My new SEO business

I decided to create my own online SEO company after seeing so many success stories, and I spent the whole weekend on my new site. I still have many blog posts being outsourced as we speak which I will be getting ranked for extra traffic.

But basically, I just wanted to share that I have already landed a client who is paying $50 per week for each keyword that he provides me that I can rank in the top 3 results. He has paid $250 up front for 2 keywords, but the really funny thing is that its an insanely easy keyword to rank, and think I can rank it in a few days.

How did I get the client?
An SEO forum that I found from a google search, had hardly any members. Looked around for about 5 minutes and found someone looking for SEO services, I haven't even had chance to look at other thread in that forum!

Sorry if this seems like a pointless thread, but I just wanted to share my success. This seems like it could work well, and I will be posting updates in this thread of my success/failure.

Btw, I will be marketing offline, and getting a lot of clients offline, so that is why I have posted it in offline marketing :)

NIce you should look into hiring a VA for cheap who will just monitor DP,WF, and other IM forum for people who are WTB seo services and have him try to land you cilents... you can land 1 cilent a day,

Seems like a pretty decent method. Thing is I have a load of friends who would love to make some extra cash, and they would be prepared to do this kind of stuff for a small fee.

Thanks for the idea!

Congrat! I am looking to start something similar myself. I am currently supporting myself with article writing....man oh man.....20 articles a day drains the life out of you. Best of luck! Hope you make lots of $$$$

congrats on starting your business.

Since you got one client already from the forum you can probably use him to get you more clients.

I mean to say, ask him to refer somebody to you instead of paying you full amount in $ and you inturn ask that guy to refer someone.

*not trying to be cocky or anything! just saying*

If you have free time on your hand, plz read 93 referral secrets by Jay Abraham.I shall upload the pdf if need arises .Am sure you will find more ideas there

I second this, Jay Abraham is really cunning at having others build his business for him, then charging shitloads to teach others the same.

Congrats buddy! just in case that you will need some extra employees... you know what i mean... :D

Ok guys, I have some more clients, and some want Reputation Management. But I am totally unsure about what to charge them.

When they ask about pricing, I don't want to give them high prices which puts them off, but I also don't want to give them too low prices which makes them think its too cheap or because I could charge them 10x that amount.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It's really a case of judging the business (and its owner) you're dealing with..
If their customer value lies around $50 or less, you should ask yourself whether your service will really help them and you may be denied instantly when you tell them a figure of $500 a month - could your service bring in more than 10 extra clients?? If so, it may be worthwhile.
I say its better to deal with businesses where customer value is at least above $200 AND clients that usually recur as well - $1200 a month would probably not be frowned upon by these guys. Also, look if they advertise already (be it online or offline), this means they're in the mindset of 'it takes money to make money' already [and you'd be surprised how many business owners don't 'believe' in advertising]

Good Luck :)

Are you using white hat methods? I will be looking for SEO services (both online/offline) soon. I wouldn't mind putting down the up-front cost now just to "book" you for when I need it. It has to be legit methods that won't give my company a bad spammy image. I still can't PM people, but please let me know more about your services.

Congrats are the startup, from the sounds of it I think you will be well off. I like the idea of browsing low populated SEO forums and picking up clients from their, good idea.

Just a quick update.

Not much has happened since my first post, because I have been really busy with selling an old website, and because of a few family birthdays. I haven't been doing much promotion so haven't got any new clients, however I will be going all out from now on (apart from christmas day) which should result in a few more clients (hopefully big time clients).
