That must take some serious skill, I'm lucky if I can sleep once in a day :(

OP I don't really know what to say. I used to get bad neck pain as well, but recently I was prescribed Valium for medical reasons, for some reason Valium takes away the pain, I think it's because it's a muscle relaxant. Maybe go to your Dr and see if they can give you anything, I am not sure what OTC meds are available in your country so I can't really suggest anything.

You need a proper chair, choose the one you feel the most comfortable in.

You need to lean well against it.

I find it fantastic that in all of the responses on this thread only a couple of people recommended you to go to a doctor. Someone even "prescribed" you with painkillers. I'm not saying that the advices given to you here aren't valid in theory but they're not 100% guaranteed to fix your neck issue.

You have a medical problem, as I know, the only person on BHW who's got medical training is muscleteen who's not a doctor but soon to become one, if he passes his exams :). If there are incognito doctors around BHW I apologize in advance for my misinformed supposition.

So I'll give you the obvious advice, go see a doctor. As an example, if you had a SEO question you wouldn't ask that on WebMD or a medical forum would you? The reverse applies also.

I can't tell if that's aimed at me or not? Since I am the only person who used "prescribed" then I'll take it that it's aimed at me.

I wasn't prescribed Valium for neck pain, I was prescribed it for a more serious medical reason. I was just saying that it got rid of my neck pain.

Of course it might not work for his neck pain, besides there is no way in hell any doctor would prescribe him Valium for neck pain.

The point I was making is that he should definitely see a doctor.

Can lead to spondylosis or spondylitis (chronic), or even something worse, if not treated in time. Go get medical advice. Bad posture can soon lead to those conditions if not corrected. If the discomfort persists for a few weeks then go get proper treatment, and change your faulty posture.

It wasn't aimed at you. James2 adviced that the OP should take ibuprofen in form of skin pads. Though well intended, the solution James suggested would fix the symptoms but not the problem. In addition, ibuprofen, if not prescribed by a specialist, can cause physical addiction, even if absorbed by skin and a painkiller addiction can cause you a world of troubles on the long run.

Are you drinking enough water every day? Dehydration can cause neck pain too. I get that same pain that goes from my neck to my eye. It is very painful. Sometimes I can make the pain go away by drinking a lot of water.
