My mom is dying

i'm so sorry your mom didn't quite make it.
it's about 3pm here in california. just got off the tennis court a few minutes ago; and, like almost every day, my mom stopped by to hit a few balls. she's a 5 year cancer survivor.
five years ago i was in cancun mexico and got a call: mom had cancer. i flew back to california. she had 17 hours of surgery with doctors coming in from all over to attend. they had to rebuild the bottom of her face (with silicone, bone and skin harvested from her leg, etc.). she was not expected to survive the surgery. she did. flash forward four years: for her birthday last year, we threw her a huge catered party. in attendance were 17 of her doctors and nurses.
my mom beat cancer. my grandmother didn't. my aunt didn't. my good friend from grade school didn't.
so, for anyone who has to go through something like this, my advice is: keep it normal, keep your chin up, and hang in there. and, above all, don't smoke!
