So figured i would share my method for some reviews :P

First i signed up for a casino affiliate and cleared with them that even if I offline advertise i will still get my cash :D Then i had a guy make me 10 signs for $60 bucks saying "8th annual Emerald coast Texas Hold'em Tournament! Start cost only $20 visit www.emeraldcoastpoker.com"
Well i tomorrow whenever i wake up i will upload the site and it will tell every visitor that per-elimination starts now and it is being held online. Please register and deposit your $20 entry free with our affiliate to get started with earning points. Everybody over 100+points will be contacted in march :P

Tomorrow then me and my friend will venture out to set up the street signs in busy intersections hoping for some great great traffic :P

Lets hope it will actually work. Everytime somebody deposits $20 in their poker account the affiliate is paying me $125 :P

The most important part of this is that you are taking action. Monitor your results and learn as you go. Continue to fine tune your efforts and you will have success. I like this idea.

$125 commision?

damn that would be worth putting on late night TV.
Even if the commercial cost a few grand.

I'm just starting with CPA and affiliate type things.. but I think that sometimes offline marketing sounds like it gets very good results.. from things I've heard on these forums you can get much better results than you would expect.

I'm interested in hearing more :)

Very clever idea. I think the offline angle of marketing is only starting to surface and will grow rapidly. It is so unsaturated compared to online methods like CL and other outlets.

Yeah...

In my county, I just found out that you have to have a *handbill distribution permit* to put up flyers?!..

They didn't catch me :D....

anyone knows if i need some kind of government aprovement in germany to put up flyers?

i think i give it a try at my university with dating shit

sounds like a great idea!

how about printing up some fliers and heading to your local casinos ( if you have any) and put the fliers on peoples windshields in the parking lot. Would get you some good targeted advertising.

good luck!

Are these signs those corrugated plastic yard signs? (like political signs)

In most places in the US, the worst that would happen if you were caught doing this would be getting a fine for littering.

I would not recommend doing that. The casino owner may go "casino" on your ass. Messing around with a casino's business is just begging for broken knee caps. :D

I'm in Canada and would have no problem doing this. I find lots of crappy shit on my window after I come out of the casino anyways so why not use my own fliers. The casinos in my area are all govt owned and with that the employees are govt employees so they don't give a shit anyways.

And if they were to try to break my kneecaps...I wish them luck. I bet they wouldn't do too well :)

Yeah....for the 2nd time in 2 days....if you're in the US, I'm telling you this is NOT a good idea. Trust me.

To the OP....make sure you are careful. You are advertising a PAID poker tournament.....ummm...that's not exactly LEGAL in most places in the US. I'm not saying you will get caught, you might not. But be advised your idea and poker tournament thing may not be kosher with local authorities. Especially since your "amazing" advertisement idea is fliers and other public advertising.

Again, I'm not trying to be a dick about this and I love some of the enthusiasm some of you young guys have, but some of you truly have no idea what you're doing.

Most people are going to think you're hosting a live poker tournament for real cash. You're not, but if you were it's illegal. Which means all it's going to take is one MORON who doesn't understand what you are doing to report you.

If you' re going to promote poker and gambling stuff offline, you should probably be doing it a little more "UNDER THE RADAR", not out in public. Plus you're trying to shoot fish in the ocean, when you should be shooting them in a barrel.

You're hoping some guy on the street sees your flier and decides to sign up. Not exactly targeted marketing...

Oh well....I hope you do well. My guess is you will be disappointed. But maybe you'll learn something in the process.

A great idea, i see offline marketing have more potential than online and your post + another similiar post here on offline marketing is a great example. Post here how everything goes through. :)

LMAO @ boosey... (!)

I can see your ass flyin through the apartment complex with flyers blowin in every direction (I'm still on the floor rolling...)

You get a huge rush of visitors to your website just because they picked up the flyers to see WTF when the cops were chasing you... great marketing dude.

(hmmm, we could be onto something here...)

amdoch - nice twist on the 'entry fee'

Wow, cool idea. I'd do it at a few Indian gaming reservations too; just got to make sure they're not the Senior Citizen ones since they may not be too net savvy. Yup, but matching online marketing techniques with offline like targeting the parking lot at a casino really opens my mind to a bunch of possibilities.

Yeah, as a few posters have already expressed you have to be careful where you do this. May be unacceptable in the U.S. since casinos are public for profit corporations and you are stepping on their toes which could get you in serious shit.

But if you can get away with it, like many places in Canada, I think you will get great quality traffic with high conversion rates. I think it's worth a shot.

>But if you can get away with it

It seems everywhere I go, someone flyers my car. I'm not sure how effective it is, but there do seem like an awful number of people who are doing it and getting away with it. It just seems like a technique which has been used so long in the real world, then it should be applicable for us too. But point taken on casinos.
