My Massive B2C U.S. Scraped Database + Your Monetization

I maintain a massive database of organized B2C leads formed from cross-correlating directories, filings, accounts across databases, platforms, and social media. In turn, I have a database which can rapidly generate massive detailed information dumps for leads in any niche. While I do not have permission to contact these users, I'm sure that this organized data presents value that can be monetized in some way, especially given its specificity.

I would be interested in a revenue-sharing agreement for such a partnership, wherein I provide my database and data harvesting skills, and you monetize the database of leads.

To get them legit and make money first you have to clean the list and then send them to an opt-in page.

Are you able to clean and email your list?

Thank you for the input! I will try to find a way to send emails and obtain permission to contact these people's emails.

I definitely can clean my list, and I can find a way to email my list. I will see what I can come up with to email them an opt-in page. Doesn't the U.S. allow you to send emails to people without permission, so long as you provide an opt-out method?

Before they can opt-out they have to opt-in!

Harvesting consumer email addresses and spamming them is against the can-spam act and so illegal.

The only way you can build a legal list this way is to first spam them and then get them to opt-into your list.

If you don't know how to set that up properly you could get yourself in a lot of trouble on many fronts. Honeypots, fines even prison!

And unless you do know how to do that your harvested lists are worthless to you.

Gotcha! I read extensively on the ICANN laws after this, and you have helped a lot! I really appreciate your advice. To clarify, from the ICANN rules, it seems like I would be allowed to email them with an opt-in email (one time) but not multiple times as a subscriber of a mailing list. Is this interpretation correct?
 
If somebody opts-in and you outline it in your terms, you can email them until they opt-out.

Does these database contain calling numbers ?
or emails only ?
 
Sorry dude, but you're getting a lot of bad advice here. If you publish an email address in any way, you are presumed to have "opted in" to receiving email. The so-called "can spam" statutes are not enforceable and never once have been, because any statute restricting what you say OR demanding that you say something a certain way (including such things as tagging messages with keywords or mailing addresses) they are in direct contradiction to the First Amendment. "But what about unsolicited bulk mail aka spam?" Show me where so-called "spam" is defined by any statute. It's not. You can call it whatever you want. People call any email they don't like "spam" and so there is no confirmed definition.

What you do need to do, if you intend to email the list with a partner, is to clean the list by running it through something like "eHygenics". It can be expensive if you have many records, but the only other option is to burn IPs by mailing it raw and weeding out as many hard bounces as possible. You will likely still have spamtrap accounts on there that land your IPs on blocklists, and if that happens you won't get delivery. I'm not saying don't mail them but if you are going to be the one providing the data you need to be the one who makes sure the data is as clean as possible.

Thank you a lot for this advice! Not saying anyone is right or wrong here, as I appreciate everyone's input and sometimes it's better to be safe than sorry, but this seems to be most in-line what things that I have read and heard from online and offline sources. While I'm sure there are ways to harass people pursuing spam over many laws, I'd place my bets that lawsuits are kept to large corporations that can actually fork over money rather than some no-name LLC.

In response to your second paragraph, that's really useful and insightful information you provided! I will certainly look more into this, specifically into services which clean email lists. At the moment, I do pseudo-cleaning by running it through some spamtrap dumps I've found, but I think a real legitimate service seems like the best option at the end of the day.
