I bought this domain last November and started offpage SEO on March. On April my main keyword which i am targeting at the homepage is no where in the serps but time to time it comes to 6th page and goes out of the serps. Last time 3 weeks back it came to the 3rd page, stayed for around for 4 days and disappeared again from the serps. Most of my internal page targeted keywords are in 1st position. For this main keyword i am talking about, 3 of my internal pages are ranking at 64, 235 and 465.

At start all i did was Angela and Paul profile links with PR 4 - 9 (around 600+) and forum posting and i know this has been the cause. Now i am mixing things up since a month or 2. I have waited too long thinking it will come back but yet it is not to be seen.

Please i am desperately in need of help with some crazy experts here.

Same thing happened to me with 1 of my websites. Internal pages were ranking 1st page but home page were nowhere. My solution was to get some authority links. Not profiles and comments. After that it came 1st position.

One other thing that I did was checking if my content was duped. Even if it werent I changed the content and it worked.

    Regards

What csfuk is saying is true for sites of mine as well, about the changing the content. I've got pages that are unique, but Google just doesn't "like" the content. When this is the case, the page cannot be found with exact quote of text in Google (except with typing site:example.com and then the quote).

For instance, if "hello blah blah information" was unique to my page, and I typed that in Google, even in quotes -- no results at all. But if I type site:example.com "hello blah blah information" it will find it.

When this happens, I go through and reword the article, then usually within 48 hours its back in Google and ranked properly.

The website this happened to me started with around 250 pages ... 125 were indexed and ranking well, 125 weren't. The pages that weren't seemed to be slightly keyword stuffed, I would rewrite it and half of the pages show back up Google. Then the 1/2 that don't, I rewrite them again and the next week 1/2 of the remaining show up. Very weird, and I think it has something to do with being slightly keyword stuffed.

Content 100% unique, some pages are 150 words and others are 1200+ words.

I think it is a combination of penalties from type of backlinks and penalties from keyword stuffing. Either way a rewrite seems to fix the problem.

    Thanks csfuk and phpbuilt.

From your suggestions i am going to try

    • Reducing the keyword density as its currently way too much
    • Will rewrite a fresh unique content to the homepage
And Csfuk, when you say Authority link what type of links are you referring to. Usually domain with PR 4 - 9 profile links can usually mean authority ryt. What type of Authority links did you work on?

I had a similar thing happen with new EMD site, which was ranking well for low competition keyword. First thing I did was some bookmarks with BMD and then disappeared completely from SERPs for keyword search, although was still indexed. I waited a month, but no change.

I got a small angela and Pauls profiles pack and the next day it was back in SERPs.

I'd like to know what are high authority links as well. I've seen some high PR blogs advertised here. Also some other services offering high PR homepage backlinks, but expensive. I suppose that manual submission to high PR sites such as ezine articles and web 2.0 would help as well. Interested to know what others have found useful for authority backlinks.
