Hey guys

Thought I would share some insights on local. There's a lot of cash to
be made in local. The best part is unlike regular seo, if you take a dip
in the rankings the money still comes in month after month. It's really
not that hard to get a dozen or so clients that will pay you each and every month.
Although I didn't start this way, I strive to get no less then 1k a
month for every local client.

So where to start? If u r on a real budget, just do a few clients for
free. Your girlfriend, brother, sister or cousin knows someone who has
an online biz. Tell them u will do it for free, but it will cost them
200 bucks or so for articles and citations. They will jump at the
chance. Do tell them if you do a good job, your fee is referrals.

Now when I say local seo, I don't do flyers, pizza boxes, or mobile
marketing or renting out sites. No disrespect to those guys doing that, but it's just not my
gig.

1st gather all the info from the client such as name, address, phone,(Nap)
business info, bio of the owner etc. Then go to roboform and enter all
the data. You will need it later.

Next put in their phone number into google maps. Is it claimed? Great,
,if not claim the biz and have the postcard sent to the client.

Claim anything that has the clients Nap.

3rd
is the hard part. Take the clients info and build a shit load of
citations. Roboform makes it easier. I'm not gonna list all the
citation sources, as they are available everywhere. If you have the
cash, invest in a tool that will tell u the competitor's citations and go
after those. If u have the cash get them done for you. There are a few
guys on the wf that will do them. Fill them out 100%. I mean everything.
Put the bio in there, videos etc. Note which ones have to be confirmed.
When u are done with at least 50, bookmark and scrape box them with a
variety of anchor texts. Don't overdo it, just give them a little love..

4th
go to the clients website. Does it suck? Probably. Just make sure
the home page has really good metas that include your keyword.

Make sure the nap is in the header or footer.

Make sure it's on all Pages. Make sure there the primary kw is in the content.

Optimize Alt tags etc. Go to fivrr and have them make a kml file, then upload.

5th take out a feeder domain with the primary kw. Try for the Emd or
anything close to it will do. Now rank that puppy. Keep at it. If u
r on a budget use fivrr gigs. It should be quite simple. Put decent
content on it along with nap. Feeder site should be easy to rank, so
keep at it

6th create a video. Who cares what the video is. Use the pics from the
client's site and go to animto. Geo tag it in you tube, along with nap.
Then buy a fivrr gig and get pixel pipe acct setup. Rinse and repeat on
all videos. Try to rank the YouTube video. Buy a gig to get comments,
views etc. Send scrapebox to the video. Get digg votes too.

Now if the market is not too competitive your video and feeder site
will rank within a few weeks. Show the client. If nothing else he will think you crap gold. This will buy you a few months sohe/she won't be crawling up your ass wondering why their primary site isn't ranking.

7th rank the clients site. Use your preferred ranking
methods, but keep it white hat. Send amr blasts with the nap. That nap
should go everywhere.

8th keep up with the citations. It's a pain in the ass but worth it.
Confirm them. Bookmark the ones that have been waited on etc.

Now at this point the client should have received the postcard for the places page. Have them verify/confirm it.

9th fill out places page 100% Do not over optimize it. Just fill out all pictures, videos, categories (think other kw's).

10th get client reviews. Won't go into how to get them, but again be
white hat! Big g will catch on if you create fake ones. Work with the
client on these.

Now wait. You will slowly crawl up rankings. Continue with more local
based citations. So if client is in Austin, search on Austin business
directory and start with those.

While I left out a few choice nuggets, this method will rank your local
clients. Once you have a few good A spots in page 1 (places, organic, video) you can puff your chest and start going after the
white collar business. Don't bother with the stereo repairman, go after
lawyers or doctors. They will give u a huge fee and spend the first few
months fees on rankings when you get them.

Ask every client for referrals. Do it when they sign up and do it when
you rank them. You will not have to prospect if u just ask.

The method above Can rank most clients . I work in major cities such as LA,, NYC, Miami etc. Those cities require more firepower but will
command a larger fee. Why local is so kick ass, is because when the
rankings go down, I phone up the client and throw a bit of mumbo jumbo and say that big g had a algorithm change but we are aware of it. They will luv ya for it.

Do not be afraid to ask for monthly fees! Otherwise it's all a waste of
time. When you hit about 10 clients, and u rank them, you can start
working less if you chose. So get off your collective butts and find
someone you can do this method for! Big paychecks await!

PS this was written at 3am so forgive the typos :D

Thanks for the blueprint. ive been looking for something solid like this. will put some of it into practise as i start up my local seo firm, i agree with doing some for free to get started just to get the testimonials. going into a meeting with no proof or credentials puts you on a back foot form the start.

Thanks! ive been buying a lot of wso about places, but your method is solid. :)
Ill try this one with black hat twist. hehe!

Bookmarked! :)

I'm trying to understand what you mean by nap and citation. Could you explain those two terms?

Thank You!

Man whats the difference between this and Tactikals OFFLINE SEO client thread?

This is pure GOLD, and the kind of thread which makes BHW rock above all other sites. Thanks for taking the time mate. I'm printing this out...

Yeah looks sick. Definitely something I am going to go into.

I'm assuming Nap is Name Address Phone or something similar?

nap is name address and phone number..put it everywhere. if you are unfamiliar with citations this is probably a bit advanced. citations are business directories. think yelp, city search, manta etc. go to the downloads section and start reading anything to do with local

Thanks for info. Sounds easy :D
BTW citations are not part of google places anymore. Are they still counted?

Good share :)

Just starting out offline so this will be useful for me !

When you plaster the NAP everywhere, on the address - do you use full state name or the two letter abbreviation? And do you include the Zip?

As long as name address phone is the same, I don't think it would matter if it's abbreviated. Try..

Citations will and always be important. Google is not revealing them now. An easy way is to search on a competitors phone number and you will see a footprint of their citations.

Really like your 3rd point. Most ppl build bare citation and if not now, soon enough Google will start assigning different authority to complete profiles and bare ones. Great post!

sorry for asking a simple question, but what are citations?
citations are just mentions of the information in your google places listing. think of this information as your keyword. i`m talking phone, email, business address, business name... those details.

now you want to get those details (your keyword) on as many websites as possible, which is just like getting a backlink with the correct anchor text.

that information doesn`t need to link anywhere btw i was just using the backlink as an analogy. pinging the information afterwards is good enough to get it indexed and counted as a citation for the business.

Thank you Adam!

let me get this right?

You rank the citations and videos of the business so it seems like the business ranking went up in the eyes of the business owner?

well the more citations a google places listing has, the higher it's rank will be. it's exactly like backlinks.

heres some more comprehensive information

edit: it appears the site is infected with virus :(
