my laptop wont turn on!!

Open up the back and take all the RAM out, apart from one stick. Try Turn it on
If fail = true
Try a different stick of RAM in the same slot
If fail = true
Try that same stick of RAM in a different slot
If fail = true
Get a new laptop

If it's old, buy a new one. It's going to end up costing a lot to fix it.

You may as well buy a new one.

I bought a Toshiba laptop about a year ago. I had it set to notify me before doing any updates. It worked ok for 8 months although vista was buggy as hell. Month 9 I was doing some work, it asks me to update, I press "do it 4 hours". 5 minutes later in the middle of work the pos shuts down. Took about 45 mins to update and I lost all my work.

A couple weeks later same thing happens. It asks me to update, this time I postpone for 24 hours. Randomly out of nowhere it shuts down again to update.

Naturally I get mad. Then after the updates were installed it restarts with a black screen that says "can not boot". I take the battery out, put it back in. Tried booting from disk. Nothing worked so I threw it in the closet. I come back a week later just to test it and what do you know? It boots fine. Wasn't charging or anything. I do work for a couple hours and get some message "hard disk error" then it randomly goes black again. I tried restarting and got the "can not boot" screen. I calmly walked to the garage, grabbed a hammer, paused for a few seconds to think.... then snapped and beat that thing to pieces.

Never again will I buy a Toshiba laptop.

Also had a toshiba, they seem to have some funny problems. To the OP: if it is some hardware problem better take it to be fixed, but before you do try to turn it on after clicking in the button and if notthing happens, simply give a small bang between the keyboard and the screen (at the side of the "turn on/off" button).

This may seem stupid but it works... Toshiba's from a few years back tend to have some electro static interference that can be solved quickly with small bang. You will punish the laptop and it will work!
