truly my acer also lasted the longest, infact even though i no longer use my acer travelmate, it still works perfectly.but when my old dell first had a problem, it was the screen that was faulty, so maybe your system is fully ok.try it on an external monitor to confirm

I only use Acers cause they last for me (who just loves to abuse her computers, lol). Twice, I had that same black screen on my Aspire One netbook. Not sure if you heard about this, but it was common on that model. The solution was to reset the BIOS, which is simple with a USB flash. It's not a common solution cause not a lot of people know it (not even repair shops, trust me on this), but it seems to work for others that have your model and not just Acers. I think this might fix yours:

You need to change the "Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode"
Change the setting from
"Dynamically Switchable"
- to -
"Always Low"

It's something I found on another forum. Let me know if you need more details. I'd hate for you to give up on it so soon. Let me know if it works, or if you need more help on flashing the BIOS, as I think that might be your answer.
