They guys just wanted to get your thoughts on my keyword research strategy, i've only really created one real website which was two years ago when i was in 7th grade. It was about video games which doesn't make a whole lot in adsense( 3k uniques only $3 a day). So what i've been doing is using the google keyword tool exact match and try to find keyword that have at least 1k a month. Next i take a look at the google top 10 and see if they are first targeting that keyword. I then take a look at the links which i feel is the most important step. I use backlink watch for this step. I pay close attention to the anchor text being used if most of the top websites have under 100 backlinks with very few anchor texts with the keyword i decide it is worth pursuing and i go ahead an create a blog on blogger. (Parents won't let me purchase own hosting and domain)

Is this a solid keyword research method?

There is tons of different methods. Definitely keep pursuing the ones that don't have a ton of competition. That is huge... At the same time, your keywords have to be searched for, so that part is the struggle.

You obviously are on the right track, so keep it up. Keyword research takes a lot of time when doing it completely manually. If you are lazier, just use a keyword tool finder and then search with your method...
