Finally after I almost have gave up my keyw. started to rank within the top 10 of Google, they haven't been there for the last 3 years, they have been so hard to rank.

Now I wonder, how can I find out what actually did the trick? Is there anything that I can lookup to see what exatcly did it? My goal is ofcourse to get them pushed to 1 -3 asap.

I have done a lot of Link building, 301 redirect, optimizing the website (yesterday not sure if that had an impact) article writing, press releases during the last 2 weeks.

Any idea or input would be very welcome.

What's up with helping just enjoy the ranks

if you made any changes yesterday as you say go to google and check when is last time the site got cached

Where do you see that? caching I mean?

How do you know it's not the total of all your efforts up until this point that has ranked it? If that were the case, then theoretically, the next step would be to continue doing what you're doing.

same here one of my site was ranking in 100+ position and suddenly after 1 year it came back to 2nd page...
didn't even touched from last 1.5 year

Yeah I was afraid of these answers. Sure I will continue doing what I'm doing, I just find it very broad and it would be somehow nice to know at least a little bit about what exactly had this impact.

How are we supposed to know what caused the jump if you, who have access to all the info, do not know. Just enjoy the money :)

Where was it ranking prior to the first page? Is it possible it came out of a penalty today/yesterday?

And, prior to the last 2 weeks work, when was the last time you did anything on that site, and what did you do?

Well, to start with, I don't know where to look, that's my problem and why I ask here.

The site was ranked no 13 - 14 before for the last 5 - 6 months. the second keywd. 26 - 30 - now no 18 the site is 7 years old, I don't think it has been penalized.

There is a forum on the same domain where we put a lot of effort into the last months.. just yesterday and maybe the last 3 days, we put a lot of images, videos and so on the forum and on the page with the rank no 8 keyw. we put just a few images and a little more text on yesterday. Do you think that made the trick?

I read about a lot here on BHW and try some of the things, and above was some of what I read.

webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:URLHERE

and let me present you the most powerful tool in the world... google

Whenever you don't know something you go that colorful page and search, for example get google cache and there you go.

In this way you don't depend on random jerks on a forum to answer you simple questions like this one

I do believe something changed during yesterday/today. Most of the TOP10's that I have been monitoring suffered changes. Maybe you're one of the lucky guys that got positive movements because of that. (I'm not sure if something really happened, but I strongly believe so...see this volatility chart )

Thanks, noted. I can see both the main site is delayed in the cache with 2 days and the forum with 1 day. Means it has nothing to do with the changes I did yesterday at least not for the main page. So is it correct if I can exclude this to be an reason?

That explains it... :) The ranking is jumping now according to Serpbook.. so I think your right.

I think you can't really know the method which push you to the 1st page, especially if you used more methods at the same time (301, PBN etc...)

Not really, this time I think it has more with Google update to do as pr0jetc mentioned.

You probably were just lucky. I know of a guy who has been trying to rank for months without success and all of a sudden began to rank in the 2nd position after an algorithm update happened. Guess why? The algo update pushed down 5 of his competitiors ranking on the first page.

Luck is not a factor I can relay on.. I do hope it is the hard work and effort I put in it on a daily basis with almost 10 hours a day.. :)

Turns out there was a mini-update around that time... you may have been a beneficiary of that.

Otherwise, it looks to me like it's just the cumulative result of the efforts you've made. So, I'd say, just do more of what you've done already.

well lucky you, wish that happens to my sites but they are much younger, some only 6months

your site must be affected by penguin rollback
