Hi,

I suck at monetising and I suck at selling things. However I'm decent at coding. So this is my journey to making $1 a day from my own tools. I'm very interested in AI, so this journey will mainly encompass AI and coding. As I love to code, I will be documenting how I'm improving my tools, and sharing results I get.

Stats so far:
  • Earnings: $0
  • Channels: 2
  • Views:
    • Channel 1 (cc):
      • 4 videos
    • Channel 2 (kt):
      • 8 videos
      • ~1700 views
  • The videos were just test videos with fairly low quality content. I am to clean up the content and improve it significantly.
(I have named the channels so I can refer to them easily instead of saying channel xyz. Helps me remember which is which when posting here)

What I have done so far:
  1. Created a tool over the past few days to completely automate creating Youtube videos and publishing them on a schedule.
    1. It's generating scripts, images, audio, transcriptions
  2. Multi channel support
  3. Deprecated the use of YT API for uploading as it limited to 6 posts/day, and is apparently suspicious for monetised accounts. Instead I'm using browser automation which has worked flawlessly so far.
  4. Removed the use of CSVs and moved to a cloud DB for scalability
  5. Added a scheduler
What I will be working on:
  1. Moving the code from my local machine to a server so that it can run 24/7 and fully leverage the scheduler
  2. Investigate creating images much quicker, and for free by using Stable Diffusion and specific models/loras. Currently I'm using Midjourney which isn't very reliable when it comes to automation.
  3. Fine-tuning a model for script generation
  4. Thinking about monetisation.
Given I suck at monetising, I'm not sure if I should just use the shorts as a funnel to grow YouTube channels. Monetise by affiliate links, or CPA offers. Depending on the chosen approach, I will need to adjust how I create content. For affiliate links I will add scraping Amazon, for growing YouTube channels I will scale vertically by posting many quality videos on fewer channels (relatively), while for CPA offers I'll scale horizontally by posting fewer videos (as the channels will likely get banned quickly) per account, but find a way to have many accounts.

About me:
I'm a senior developer at a FAANG level company, but the money's not enough to buy myself a house and support my family on 1 income. Hence looking at other avenues for making money. I also believe in a few years AI will either take my job or close the gap between junior developers and my self, resulting in higher supply, and lower pay. I want to be able to buy a house before that happens. It doesn't help I live in one of the world's most expensive cities.
I've created a tool for AI content sites and have 10 sites running. One of them is already generating ~$1 per day. I had ideas of making the tool more autonomous by also coming up with an entire topical authority map, essentially making entire sites. But I'm not sure if it's worth it as I don't see why Google will not surface their own highlighted AI results at the top of the search results. For now I've abandoned that tool and will be focusing on YouTube videos.

Disclaimer: If my tools end up working and are generating profits, I will use that profit to buy JR. VIP and open a BST.
Also, I'm open to JVs with anyone that is knowledgeable about monetising, just DM me.

I believe that @lucky.sparks has been doing something similar for a few months in the 5 figures range.
You should take a look.

AI video?
I know it's a recent trend, but can we really make money with it?

Good luck on the journey getting that house!

Wondering at the step before this, are you just prompting to have the AI come up with what the video is going to be about, for whichever topic Channel 1 || 2 is about?

What browser automation tooling you use that works flawlessly. It some type of programmable Chrome extension?

You want to buy house asap and the target you set is $1 which doesn't make a match. I understand this is your initial target which you will increase with time, but again I am not sure how long any experiment with AI lasts. So be careful on that.

My best wishes, will follow your journey.

Thanks for the well wishes all. The goal for $1 was to just validate the idea and give me confidence. I have already earned more than $1 from this however it was from a fresh monetised channel I bought.
I'm going to not count that as part of this journey as I feel that's cheating.

That said, it seems the channel is dead as it is no longer getting views.

I'm not too sure why the views dropped, maybe I was posting too much. I'll be testing out several variables to get an answer.
I have a few other channels up and running, nothing substanial yet, around 1k views/day or so.

As for development, at this point I have automated the whole flow of account creation, ideation, video creation, and video upload using anti detect browsers and proxies.
The code is looking pretty good, it's robust, performant, and scalable. As I love developing I put in a lot of time making it clean. It's using microservices and a completely event driven based architecture. There's still some things that irk me in the code that I want to clean up but I'm going to skip that and focus on more important things.

For the next week I will be focusing on the monetisation aspect more than the code, as that's the end goal. I've already mentioned previously the monetisations steps I may take, but I will also reevaluate the platform choice (Shorts) as it's fairly easy to pivot with my current infrastructure. I hope by next week's update I actually have a plan for monetisation so I can scale this to 1000s of accounts. That's my dream :D

Sorry for not replying to messages here, I unfortunately don't have time for that. I will make time for that in the future when I start seeing some results.

This can work as well as you do a proper research and choose your niche carefully.

You can look for new channels with low views but high engagement and see how they monetize it. The other option (a lot better) could be to teach people how to code, upload your course on udemy and promote it with videos.

Sorry for the lack of updates I got lazy in that department I will share one tonight
