My journey to building a massive website

Hey guys, sorry for the absence. This website is still going but we hit a snag in 2024 and it was completely dead for a long time. I'll post an update in a bit detailing what happened, how I recovered and where we are standing today. Still believe this site can become big, maybe not $100k per month lol, but maybe $5k+ per month is possible.
Just found out about such an amazing thing—are you really going to abandon this project? I hope you'll continue updating; I'm really looking forward to it.

Great, I hope everything goes as you wish. 100k is a very ambitious goal, but what if it happens? Good luck.

Hey guys. Not much to report on but yesterday was our first day of $15+ on Mediavine Journey. Pretty excited and hopefully the RPM can increase some more.

Currently sitting at just over 40k monthly sessions so might be able to join the real Mediavine network soon.

Short update. The RPM and daily revenue dropped back down to the stable $6-8 we've seen previous to the top at the end of september. Was still a great month.

Google Search Console:

And Google Analytics
Sessions: 41k
Page views: 64k
Time on page: 1m 5s

Totalt earnings for September: $257.88

If the site keeps growing now we should be looking at around 50k sessions per month by the end of the year.

Wish you good luck. I am also following a similar journey as you. How many pages do you publish per month?

Thanks, good luck to you too. Currently I'm going really slow on the publishing. The past few months I think I've published around 10 pages per month only. Don't want to get hit by Google again so we'll see if we can grow the site slow and steady for the remainder of the year.

Sounds like a solid and ambitious plan! Love the focus on quality, strong backlinks, and a functional site. Looking forward to seeing your progress — best of luck on the journey to $100k/month!

About 4 hours ago I published two new pages, requested index in GSC and they are now ranking at #3 and #6. I find this fascinating, that they not only index, but also rank well on the first page in just a few hours.

Analyzing my statistics and rankings right now. The number of impressions have dropped quite a bit the past 2 days but clicks are still 800-900 daily. However, lately both GSC and Analytics has been acting real weird... Today and yesterday I haven't been able to even load my analytics at all, just spams the bottom left corner with all kinds of server error messages from Google. I have seen this quite a bit the past few months and really curious of what it could be. A few days later it always solves itself and the Analytics loads just fine. Anyone else with this problem? It's not something about the implementation as it's working just fine, I think Google is having some serious problems lately.

Another thing I noticed is that a handful of keywords rank below the homepage. Not sure how to fix that but have seen a few such cases that eventually (after a few months) sorted themselves out and are now ranking well above the homepage. The homepage only has the main keyword, and all the pages have their own variations (prefix) of the main keyword. I dont worry too much about canibalization but it's pretty annoying since visitors are looking for the exact prefix and most likely end up clicking the competitors instead.

I'll make an update some day next week. October has been really good in terms of growth but the earnings have not changed much unfortunately.

Seeing as Raptive lowered their requirements to 25k sessions per month I decided to apply to them instead of waiting for Mediavine. However, I currently don't have 50%+ traffic from tier 1 countries. How could we increase the reach in only say the US? I think I have close to 40% tier 1, haven't checked but somewhere around 40%.

Does Raptive mostly consider organic traffic or would it be OK to run some targeted US ads for a few months to get over 50% and apply again?

All right, the numbers for October are in and it looks pretty good. Unfortunately we had quite a significant drop in impressions but clicks are up. I guess it's due to low traffic keywords are dancing in the SERPs and the increase of clicks is most likely due to the main keyword going from rank 5 to rank 4. I'm pretty happy with the month overall.

Here's the GSC:

The clicks are trending up and we are now steady at around 1000 clicks per day from Google alone. I want clicks to grow to a steady 1500/day, then we would be better than before the crash last December.

As for Google Analytics:
Unique visitors: 34k
Time on page 1m07s
Total sessions: 48k

Earnings for October: $272.30 (+$14.42)

As I mentioned I applied to join Raptive but got denied because I have a bit low tier 1 traffic. Not exactly sure how I'm going to fix that, should be able to try my luck with MediaVine shortly. According to Google Analytics the number of daily visitors is increasing slightly so fingers crossed we breach 50k+ sessions this month!

I'm still taking it slow with adding new pages and it seems to be growing just fine for now. Going to try adding some affiliate links to the biggest pages again, see if I can get the earnings up. Would like to get more than $300 in December at least.

Was looking at my Search Console, here's the development over the past 3 months lol:

Those impressions are all over the place :D Looking at the growth of the clicks in comparison to the drop in impression is crazy.

Didn't think the earnings would pass $300 this soon but we're just over a third through November and this is what it looks like currently.

Trending up so lets hope we continue that trend and get well over $400 in December at least. I'm 300 sessions away from 50k the last 30 days but will probably wait until its just a little bit higher before applying to regular Mediavine.

Yesterdays cloudflare outtage had my site down for some time and later at night I saw my ads were not showing properly. Had to reload urls and ads.txt in Mediavine Journey for them to start working again. For some reason this doesn't seem to have affected my earnings, says I made $14.99 yesterday so that's nice.

Thinking of ditching cloudflare, is that a good idea? Just applied to regular Mediavine since my analytics now show 52k sessions the past 30 days. Let's hope I get accepted. Still worried about my tier 1 traffic being too low but not sure what to do about it.

Great news. Mediavine got back to me and said my site was approved, they recommend I get setup with PubNation, not sure what the difference is but should be starting the onboarding soon. I'm amazed with how quick the approval was. Now lets hope I get a bit higher RPM.

I found a related niche that seems to have a lot of potential. Currently building the design but want to make this without using WordPress. No backend needed so just doing next.js and tailwind css for now. Thinking of rebuilding the main site the same as well. Thinking that would make the site even faster, as WordPress adds so much bloat in the code.

Going to keep adding new pages to the main site and aiming to complete the secondary site by the end of the year.

This new site will be a similar tool website as the main site, just a lot fewer pages, maybe 5 to start. The competition is a bit weird imo. A few sites from around 2020 ranking #1 but they are single page websites, and below that we have some paid tools in the same niche. I want to put all the different keywords on the same website and separate them on different pages. For the paid option I'm looking to maybe add an AI analyzer but that's way in the future.

The main competitors in both "niches" (I put quotations because it's so closely related it's crazy, just that I can't put them both on the same domain since that wouldn't really make sense) have links between their different sites. I'm probably gonna try that as well.

I’m wondering if I could reach out to get insight for my website. Willing to pay for your time

Hey, sorry but I don't do that kind of stuff. I'm not an expert or anything :)
