So this is more for myself then anything to keep myself on track and organize my thoughts while sharing with and learning from the BHW community. I have a goal to make at least $2000 a month within 2 months so I can move out of my parents house before fall school quarter when they will force me to re-enroll if I am still living with them.

My Story
I personally do not see the purpose of getting a college degree if I dont ever plan on working for anyone but myself but my parents are in the traditional mindset of "you need to get your degree and go 10s of thousands of dollars into debt in order to be successful in life" (paraphrasing and maybe adding the in debt part even though its true). If I am in school full time plus a part time job that wont give me enough time to work on my own business where I will need to have a flexible schedule. So I am hoping the growing of my business will give me the credibility to be able to tell my parents I need to focus on my business and not school right now, or else I will have to move out and find my own place.

Where I am right now
Offline Income: Regular job trading time for money making $1000 per month
Online Income: Starting from ground zero. I am making online $$$ but not steadily enough to call it income

SEO firm started 2 weeks ago. Since then I have partnered with a highly business savvy individual and recruited 4 others to help put together a sales team. Currently advertising by word of mouth and fliers.

Immediate plans
Meeting with my partner within the next couple days to discuss putting together the sales team and layout an entire business plan to help me reach my goal. I will be advertising sales positions on CL and fliers locally. Current goal to interview up to 50 people per week until all slots are full. Not how sure often I will be updating this but I am guessing anytime something exciting has happened or I feel it just needs an update.

goodluck, and all the best in your ventures :) Let me know if you ever need any reviews done on any services here :) all the best and will be following this thread :)

I wish you the absolute greatest luck with your journey! I like this because it is something different than a "PPD and YT" journey. PM me if you need any help/ideas at all! I will defiantly be following this.

Good Luck with this Journey OP! :)

I think you will succeed, also your plan sounds good!

How many SEO consultants do you have on board by now?

Not a good idea to have lots of sales people and few SEO consultants. You'll reach the boiling point pretty quick.

You have a good plan, just follow it and work hard and you will get there!

Best of luck!

My current SEO team is quite large so I can sustain quite a few sales reps as well. I plan on continually growing as needed and trickling more people onto my team. IMO "If you're not growing you aren't living"

UPDATE:
Today I plan on giving an interested prospect a call. I actually hate calling people and trying to convince them to buy what I have to offer but I need to overcome this fear and stop being a pussy about it. I am posting it here to force me to post an update on what the outcome of the phone call was tomorrow.

I also just purchased 250 vistaprint business cards that look like dollar bills with this printed on them "Refer a friend and get paid $100 cash! Contact for details". Plus I already have some regular business cards without the referral part for those prospects that I believe can turn into clients.

If you're trying to get traffic by doing SEO then it will take time.. i would suggest to use those sites which are sending traffic right now, such as YT, Stumbleupon, Facebook, Twitter etc so that you can get some traffic first and then you can just convert that traffic by monitoring what they want!

Best of luck to your journey.

I am not trying to get traffic through SEO. I have an SEO firm and provide SEO services for others.

UPDATE:

I called the interested prospect and actually surprised myself with my confidence and sales pitch. He was very busy (or at least told me he was) at the time of the call and proposed we meet today over video conference and that he would get back to me with an exact time. But since there is only 15 minutes until his proposed time slot is over for the meeting my guess is that he is flaking on this one. I contacted him again to propose we find another better time to meet when he is less busy. Still waiting for his response.

Lesson learned: I will probably come across many flakey clients in this business but I will pursue until I get a definite no, not get butthurt with denial, and move on to the next one. Many more where they come from.

What I did today:
- Met with my business partner who suggested some great training materials for self improvement in the business world so it looks like I have a lot of reading to do this summer.
- We set up some goals and deadlines for getting our sales team set up and also discussed a second business I may get into that works into my current one quite well.
- Set up an account on MeetUp.com for offline business social networking so I can make some real life valuable contacts with similar dreams and goals in life in entrepreneurship.

To-do today:
- Write a list of open ended questions to ask my prospects, sales team interviewees, and other potential business people, in order to break down communication barriers and feel at ease in discussion.
- Visualize my dreams and find a way to keep that in mind constantly to keep me motivated throughout all the hard times that will come up in the future.

UPDATE:

Booked a local library meeting room for the 3rd of August to host my job fair. Advertising the job fair on craigslist has gotten me 30 RSVPs so far. I will be using the fair to fill all my staff positions available for a sales team and other positions.

Still no more sales but that I am focusing on the foundations first before I work on making sales.

My day job hours got knocked in half which makes the urgency in the success of my business that much greater.
