Introduction

So guys, today I'm starting my journey to $1000/mo residual income. My method is going to be offline marketing of SEO services. I plan on outsourcing SEO services from the BST section and presenting myself as an SEO specialist to local businesses that aren't ranking (well or at all) on Google. I'm starting with $0 in capital. Also, I'm 19 years old, and living in Alabama. I'm hoping that my youth (and relatively young, though professional, appearance) won't create too much of a barrier when it comes to face-to-face meetings.

Day 1

Step 1, obviously, would be to start building a list of potential clients/leads. I'm using YellowBook to search for businesses in various niches that could benefit from search engine visibility. Currently I'm looking into doctors, dentists, interior designers, lawyers, realtors, and contractors.

I have a list of 7 businesses so far and am still looking. I went to the doctor's office today with my girlfriend, and while I was in the waiting room I discovered, with my handy-dandy netbook, that the practice didn't even have a website. I immediately asked to speak to the manager/managing partner, and after a quick 10 minute pitch, got her interest and left some contact information (gf's visit was quick so I had to cut the meeting short). I was told to expect a call by the end of the week regarding a website design (which I will outsource, of course) and SEO services for said site.

I'll be keeping you guys posted as my journey continues.

Earnings this month: $0.00

Sounds good, i subbed to thread. Looking forward to your progress!

Update

Earlier this afternoon, I called 6 potential leads: 2 interior design services (1 was an incorrectly listed number, left a message for the other), 3 dentistry offices (left a message for the manager at two, turned down from the third), and an auto repair shop. I'm excited about the last one, because I booked an appointment for next Wednesday at 3:00! This gives me time to print up a few info sheets (see attachment). I'm compiling a longer list of prospects to call tomorrow, mostly law firms. Again, I'm searching YellowBook for places in my area that have websites, but that I can't find on the first few pages of Google.

Services that I plan on outsourcing to: BigBuddy's Link Pyramids, Dripable, Automated Link Pushing, and G-Killer Box II. SEO for clients purchasing the Executive packages will be outsourced to Deadly SEO, and ALP. After the first 3 months, I'll only be using Drip and ALP to continuously rank, and maybe order the occasional Fiverr or cheap BST section blast. These seemed like the most effective/reputable services I could find, based on reviews in their respective threads. Any other services you guys can recommend?

good luck
Thanks!

Keep it up looking for update
Will do, and update posted.

Good to hear; thanks to all you guys for keeping me company on this journey. The support is much-welcomed.

Looked over your Packages.doc..

"Rank on 1st page"
"Rank in top 10 listings"

Second one having double the price but they are essentially the same thing, unless you've changed your Google settings to show more than 10 results on 1st page..

Anyway, get your PowerPoint on, and I wish you the best of luck ;)

Thanks for posting this. I want to try something like this but my only fear is that I'll be unable to deliver rankings. This thread should motivate me a bit. :)

Subscribed for your thread..

I have looked at your packages.. Is it per monthly basis till you get the 1st page or its a one-time fee to get to the first page.. could you please clarify that for me..

Hm, I thought I counted 13 on the first page, but I checked again and you're right; I had accidentally included the 3 sponsored listings at the top of the search results. I updated the price sheet to the Starter package making Top 20. You think going through a PowerPoint presentation would be better than leaving a simple sheet?

I worried about that too at first, but that's why I'm outsourcing to what I feel to be the most reliable BHW services. Also, as long as you don't promise guaranteed results (no one can with SEO), the worst that can happen is you get dropped by your client. I hope this thread motivates all of you to take action in your area :)

Sorry that this was unclear. This will be monthly fee, and the expected results are within the first 3 months. Because I'm using highly reviewed services, I expect to be able to meet these goals with the budget for each package.

Budget Breakdown:

Starter
*******************

Month 1: BigBuddy Premium Link Pyramid - Mini Pyramid ($77)
Profit = $83

Month 2: G-Killer Box II - G-Hunter Package ($75) + Automated Link Pushing ($67)
Profit = $18

Month 3: Automated Link Pushing ($67) + Dripable Drip Feed Blasts ($47)
Profit = $46

Month 4: Dripable ($67)
Profit = $93

Month 5: ALP ($67)
Profit = $93

Month 6 -> Onwards: Whichever works better, Drip or ALP, $67 either way

Residual $93/mo profit

Pro
*******************

Month 1: BigBuddy Premium Link Pyramid - Mini Pyramid ($77) + G-Killer Box II - G-Buster Package ($125)
Profit = $98

Month 2: BigBuddy Premium Link Pyramid - Mega Pyramid ($147) + Automated Link Pushing ($67)
Profit = $86

Month 3: Automated Link Pushing ($97) + Dripable ($67)
Profit = $136

Month 4: Dripable ($97)
Profit = $203

Month 5: ALP ($97)
Profit = $203

Month 6 -> Onwards: Whichever works better, Drip or ALP, $97 either way

Residual $203/mo profit

Executive
*******************

Month 1: BigBuddy Premium Link Pyramid - Mega Pyramid ($147) + G-Killer Box II - G-Buster Package ($125)
Profit = $158

Month 2: Deadly SEO Operation Blue Star ($237) + Automated Link Pushing ($97)
Profit = $96

Month 3 -> Onwards: Automated Link Pushing ($147) + Dripable ($97)
Profit = $186

Residual $186/mo profit

I'd love any suggestions for how to improve the services I'm offering. Also, as for why I chose Blue Star from the Deadly SEO packages: it offers the highest trust rating out of the packages in my price range. I figured I would make up for the lower power rating with the rest of the services.

As for the end profit, I'm guessing that the most popular package would be the Pro package (people tend to go for the medium option) so I made it the most profitable. The others pack a little more bang for the buck on the customer's end, but they should be happy with the service no matter which package they choose.

I will be following this thread, good luck to you! It really looks like you have done a lot of research into exactly what you will be offering your clients, which is great because I'm sure some of them will ask detailed questions.

Thanks for the support :) Yes, I've definitely done my homework; I don't want to be caught off-guard when they have questions. "Uhm"s and "uhh"s are exactly what potential clients don't want to hear.

Day 2

Okay guys, I have a list of 14 more places to call: 7 attorneys, another interior designer, 2 realtors, 3 day care centers, and 2 optometrists. I'll also be visiting my girlfriend's old day care, since she knows the owner personally (hoping to win some points by association). I'll update you guys after I finish calling my list.

P.S. Attached updated Packages.doc

my 2 cents would be to insist on 3 months and bill it that way. then id offer them a 2 week test for FREE yeah i said FREE its ok once they see your reports they be all in for the 3 month plan.
keep in mind targeting long standing business is better than new ones. While new biz seems better they usually dont have budget for SEO in the 1st year so target at least 2-3 yrs it works for me.

What will you do if they are not ranking where you promised?
For example it says guaranteed number 1 by six months on the executive package. What will you do if they say you didn't deliver what you promised?

(forgive me if it's a stupid question) Is it not risky using blackhat methods on established businesses? What if big G gets suspicions and de-index the website of the business?

I think I will upgrade to this business model once I have the necessary capital. Because I'm not doing any of the SEO myself, I need money for anything to get done on their website. After the first client gets signed, however, I'll be able to offer this. In the mean time, I'm compromising by billing month-to-month with no long-term commitment (though I am working on a discount package for long-term orders).

For starters, I don't guarantee results. I set expected goals, but if I don't meet those goals I can simply explain that SEO is an ever-changing field, and methods that work one day may not work the next, then simply promise to do my best to deliver until the expected goals are reached.

As for de-indexing, I don't much worry about it. Firstly, I mostly target businesses that aren't indexed at all, so no risk of de-indexing. For the rest, most of the methods I use are drip-fed, not instant-speed blasts, so the linkbuilding should appear natural. If an indexed client does get de-indexed, I'll simply offer a refund.

Update

So all my cold-calls today ended either with rejection or me leaving a message. I just got a call back saying that the lawyer I was trying to get in touch with was an independent and so she "stays as busy as she likes". I'm not too discouraged though, still have plenty of potential leads out there, just need to find more niches to trawl on YellowBook.

Day 3

Today and Sunday I won't be doing any business calling, instead I'll just be spending some time with the family and getting some more numbers down. I'm trying to target niches that rely on searches to get their names into peoples' heads. You don't go to Google to find a restaurant to go to, but when it's time to pick a divorce lawyer, chances are you're gonna ask the big G.

Current niches:
- Legal
- Medical
- Home Improvement

Also, I'm going to try a new approach: finding new clients by Googling random keywords and sending a sales email to webmasters ranked below page 3.

Let me know your thoughts, I'll be checking in regularly throughout the day.

good luck with your quest OP, i find your posts very detailed and inspiring! keep the good work up!

Day 4

Alright, so some complications got in the way of the whole "checking in" thing yesterday. However, I was able to get a solid hour of work in and got some numbers to call on Monday. Today, since I have lots of errands to run, I'll be keeping an eye out for businesses to visit in person tomorrow. I will be back later tonight to grab some phone numbers. Do you guys think it would be better to cold call, or to show up in person during slow hours?

Well guys, I drove by plenty of medical/legal offices, as well as some furniture stores; running around a little today actually gave me some ideas. Although I haven't made any money yet, I'm glad to already have some successes to report. I'm going to call back some of the offices I left messages at yesterday.

A thought: originally during my online searches, I was going to put all the numbers into a spreadsheet, but I found that the physical act of writing the names/numbers down makes me feel like I'm getting more done/validates the idea of having a real "business"/whatever, i feel better about doing it.

i suggest you read a little bit about SEO...

you can rank with easy work for your clients without any service. Try to rank for easy/local keywords first. Get some work done. From there you can keep pushing your clients sites slowly. I am saying this because you dont want to rank your clients's sites within 1-2 months... at least for decent keywords. because they will leave you thinking their ranking will maintain. And this those services you mention....you gonna rank them pretty fast :D
