Hi everyone!
Before I get started talking about my journey and plans for my blog, I would like to say that I am new to this forum and have been inspired to start by all of you fellow BHW users!
My journey...
Recently, I have registered a new domain name on a niche that I would deem to be rather competitive. Not giving it that much of a thought, I set up the domain name to represent the niche, not even considering how competitive it could be and how much hard work I would have to put into this site.
I thought that I have some pretty decent knowledge within my niche, and could keep coming up with new, unique content for my site every day.
After having set up my domain and having consistency published articles every day for the past 2 weeks, I was recently asked by someone, 'Why have you started with this niche? Do you have plenty of knowledge about this topic? Are you doing it for the money or are you really passionate about it?'.
These questions have really made me think, what on earth am I actually PASSIONATE about? Am I doing this to make money? Do I actually like putting in the work for this site?
Surprisingly enough, I came to the conclusion that this is literally the only thing I'm even remotely passionate about. Of course I have considered making some money off my site in the future (But who hasn't, right?), however, looking at it from a different perspective, Im not only doing for the money, but rather because I actually enjoy doing it!
Anyway, what are my plans?
I aim to publish an article at least 6 times a week. I get up early every morning and dedicate about 2 hours to writing an article, optimising the on page SEO of the article, sharing, etc.
Most of my articles so far have ranged from about 700-1200 words.
I aim to target long tail, low competition keywords in order to rank my articles. Since being on this forum, I have learnt about the KGR keywords, tried a 7 day Ahrefs trial for keyword research,

I am also using Rank Math SEO to optimise and index my posts, with an average score of 85/100 for most articles.
I have set up a Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn page, to which I share my articles on the day they are published. I have heard that setting up social media pages is great for my site's SEO? But I could be wrong?
New content ideas
Last night, I had spent a few hours coming up with a new idea which will also let me generate so much unique content to my site. However, I have come across a little issue.
My content idea does not exactly entail long tail keywords. To be more precise, I am planning on making articles based on my personal 'Research and Analysis', I am certainly not the first person to do this, but will almost likely have information that other competitors have not mentioned in their own articles about the topics.
To include some statistics, the allintitle results average about 80 results and much less in some cases. Monthly global views are on average around 600. However, the competitors are those with impressively high Domain Authority.
At this current time, I am doubtful that my posts could be featured in the top 10 of these results, BUT I aim to publish content that I enjoy doing, so, my main goal isn't exactly to outrank domains with a high DA score (although it would be nice!).
Future goals
I aim to publish at least 6 articles a week for as long as I can be determined to do so. Unlike many other things, I have actually sworn to myself that I will focus on this long term and take it seriously, as long as I keep enjoy doing it!
Im currently aiming for my first 100,000 words. Currently I have around 18 articles, averaging about 15k words. Given that from now on I publish 1000 word articles, it will take me around 3 months to achieve my target.
At some point I would like to monetise my website, it would be nice to have some spare income coming in from my site!
Linked in with the previous point, I would like to try and set up some affiliate links, although not too sure how I would incorporate it with my current nice. I have not researched this and not sure how this works, yet!
I don't expect much traffic coming in right now, but I hope to at least be gaining 100 unique visitors after 3-4 months of consistently uploading new content to my site. On average that would be 3000+ a month. I don't want to go crazy with a goal like 10,000+ as I am completely new to this and not sure what I can expect from my performance.
Questions
I do have a few questions which I cannot answer myself.
When purchasing my domain, I never considered domain authority. Should I purchase an expired domain name that has already been registered previously, for example, if I buy a domain that was first registered in 2010 and already has a certain amount of backlinks involved, will that help me with my goals? Or is that irrelevant and should I just stick to my newly registered address?
How can I optimise my Rank Math SEO score to be in the 90s instead of the 85/100?
How can I optimise my Home Page SEO? My home page is literally popular articles and latest articles with a little 100 word summary of 'About us'. It already has a 1.9s loading time and 26 HTTPS requests, but what else could I possibly add to my home page to improve the SEO of the page?
Should I focus on backlinks right now? Or should I focus on content only at this point?
Do you recommend I go for the keywords used by my competitors? Average allintitle results are 80 and sometimes less, and most of my competitors are quite established websites. Average monthly volumes of 600. Please remember I am writing this content for my own enjoyment, and am not necessarily looking to out rank my 60 DA competitors as of this very moment!
