My journey back to Self-Publishing

I was actually making decent income back in 2013, but I stopped. All the work into self-publishing was draining me. Now, I regret my decision and want to get back into selling my stories.

Back in 2013, I had over 46 ebooks published all fiction in the paranormal romance genre. I was making about $700.00 per month with each retailer (more or less).

I fell pregnant in 2014, my pregnancy was rough so I ended up taking an offer for a small publishing house to buyout my work. The money ran out quickly and now I'm getting less in royalties. I delivered my baby in Jan 2015, so I began writing again, but I never published anything. Just yesterday I went through my documents and I realized I had a total of over 78 short stories written (10-20k words).

I don't have a ton of money for editing, promotion, as well as cover design, and it is very hard doing this while at home with a little one.

I'm very nervous about getting back into the self publishing business

I have my first out of the 78 almost ready to go. Editing is finished, now all that is left is cover design, uploading to all the retailers, plus promotion. From what I understand, it's a bit more difficult to get out there. Plus, I need to head downtown to purchase my DBA, since I'll be publishing under a pen name from now onn.

Good luck with the publishing journey, I'm sure you'll do great if you just keep at it and learn from what you do.

It's a little bit more difficult now I guess, but with proper planning and promotion it's still a very good way to make money. If you need any help just let me know, I've done some dealings with KDP and the lot.

I'm back on Kboards as well. Don't seem to get much info at Warrior Forum. So far I've learned that Kindle Unlimited is difficult now since they pay by the page and now by book downloads. I see KDP has an advertising feature. Have you used it? Does it do any good with sales?

I'm also making a list of promo sites. I'm thinking about Book Bub, but I know I need to get a decent about of sales and reviews before they even consider you.
