I have quite a few questions
So I have the book and SEO for Dummies as the whole idea has interested me and its a new year new me so I have finally decided to sit down and give it a try.
So after awhile I decided the first step was picking a keyword that I am interested in and will enjoy researching and practicing with.

So I am not really sure what this means but the difficult is low so I think I it will be a decent word to start with. My plan is to create a blog and write all my own content now, and then later down the road I will decide to either make it my money site ( i think thats the right terminology) or if I will use that to help grow and rank other sites with a similar or same niche.
Questions:
1) I plan to write all my own content, original of course is there anything I should keep in my mind when writing? I heard you want to use your keyword alot but make sure to keep it natural, and don't make it spammy.
2) In my blog posts I will probably be referring to other sites will it hurt my ranking if I link to them or mention them, I don't want to accidentally penalize myself or boos the competition.
3) I see that backlinks are key when doing off site, my plan was to try to write content for other blogs and sites hoping that they would link back to my blog. Is this viable method, or is this not effective?
4) Investments? As of right now I haven't invested anything I plan on buying a domain name, hosting, and I was looking at some books on the apple store and on amazon. Is buying books worth it or is it the same old scam HF ebooks run..
4B) I have heard a lot bout software, should I be using software, am I wasting time by doing stuff by hand. My thinking is that I should learn and understand what I am doing before investing in software, although building backlinks seems very tedious..
5) Any last tips or tricks before I get started on my blog?? Like websites that have helpful tools?
6) How many articles should I have and how long should they be before I start to work on spreading the site.
I am going to also use this thread to keep progress on my blog whether or not anyone cares I feel that it will at least keep me responsible and possibly motivate other people.
