    Hello BHW!

Long time on and off lurker of this site. I dabbled with a couple things I learned from here when I was really young <18. Now being much older I am back and with a much more mature mind set, as well, better understand concepts I did not back in the day. Did make a very little with adsense and a blog, a little youtube. I am now looking to get into Affiliate marketing and making my own domain for this.

I had a couple short paragraphs written but for some reason it kept saying I was triggering the moderation system....even though I double and triple checked and no rules are being broken? Anyways I saved them and maybe I can come to posting them in the future? (Anyone I can ask specifically about that, because it would be nice to share a little more about myself (=. )

I look forward to learn and interact with BHW and Members.

Basically what happened was, when I was pretty young I only made a couple cents to dollars through ppc and a basic blog after a couple weeks. I had a youtube video pushing 75K views (not that much but was good for a first timer back in the day), however it was not monetized. So naturally as most newbies do, I fell of the train. It did not completely go to waste as I taught myself to repair gaming consoles, computers and cell phones and did that for a good amount of time. (great money for a <18y.o. People used to come and in shock look at me like you're fixing my computer? Haha good times!)
I only wonder how successful I'd be today had I stuck to it through all these years! (the ppc/blog/youtube'ing)

Due to changes in electronics, lots of things going to digital and subscriptions, this was not as feasible for me as it use to be. I taught myself something new, something I had no idea about, and actually learned to do it very well. This made me better money than with the computer repairs.

Now I am moving on and want to dive into the world of IM. I fiddled with it a little when I was younger, but have now decided to learn this full force! I am an accounting student at a good university, but have taken time off due to person reasons. What better thing to put my spare time towards than this! It's something I have always had interest in and found fun.

I know I want to do something with Affiliate Marketing. I am debating whether I should build a blog style website, e-commerce, or more of a review site. (I will buy my own domain and hosting) That stuff is the easier part for me (building and creating content), but I am currently trying to figure out what Niche to target. I feel as though I'm over thinking this part, and looking at too broad of a topic or one which is to competitive. (But to my understand we should do something that we enjoy and know much about?)

I have lots to learn! But think I should start taking action sooner than later. That way I can learn as I go and learn from my mistakes, because I believe you can only learn so much from reading and not taking action.

Haha I know more people than I can count on one hand who have university degrees, and are working regular retail jobs. - They just can not find a career related to their degree! It's crazy!

I have already started putting pieces together, that being how all these different platforms are/can be connected to help drive traffic and increase leads/sales. (I.e.: Twitter/Instagram to drive traffic to your blog, to come show genuine content and direct traffic to an commerce site, which would be leads on affiliate site?) I don't think this is completely necessary starting out right? One could simply create a very good site, and if you can manage to get enough traffic that can transfer to leads?...like I said I got a lot to learn still (=.

I would honestly like to just be able to make a side income, expand and see how far it can get me. (Short term, a couple hundred a month would be amazing!) I know if I put enough time into this, that I can learn what I need and be successful at it. Ideally I'd like to Run my Own Business.

Thankfully, I have good grades and interview skills so I can fall back on that. What gets me is that I desire FREEDOM, I work a job now and I hate feeling like a slave.

I think you are complicating it a bit. I have a site it goes social media -> landing page (I am selling a e-product I made, I get to keep 100% of profits).
How good are you at accounting ? You could start with selling a bookkeeping/tax return service

Welcome to BHW! There are lots of threads to read through about making money, etc. Best advice is to pick ONE thing that you are good at and try to implement it into your money making strategy. If you can build websites and write content, do that. If you are good with social media and get good interaction from Twitter followers, Facebook fans, Instagram followers, or Pinterest followers, then do something with that.

Whatever method you read about or have an interest in, learn as much as you can about it and TAKE ACTION. Many visitors here spend a lot of time reading and reading without taking any action. They are told by friends and family that there is no money to be made in IM. Many people eventually feel that they are no good at IM and decide that it may be best to give it up and get a REAL job. It is up to you to prove them all wrong. It is up to you to prove to yourself that you can't do it.

Need a niche? How about accounting? Create a blog talking about it (or something related to it) and find ways to monetize it. Google is your friend. Google trends is a great place to start to gather ideas and inspiration. Use the forum for knowledge and as a reference but don't abuse it by spending countless hours here reading all day.

Now get to work! Oh, and good luck!

Welcome to BHW! Check out my thread in the signature if you want to know how to find a niche fairly easy! :)

I have about 20 sites, and 20 of those I don't have a genuine interest in. I guess if you are making an authority site and will write all the content yourself you should have a interest in the topic before you start but if you are making small review sites it is better to go with a niche where there competition is low in order to make money more easily. Accounting for example might have a lot of competition as it is something a lot of people are making money on, they have hired SEO agencies for thousands upon thousands in order to rank high (I haven't looked into the niche, just assuming).

Good luck! Shoot me a PM if you need any help. :)

I greatly appreciate the warm welcoming! I will definitely take you guys up on your offers of help, but I don't want to jump the gun and ask silly questions. (Yes, I know theres no such thing as a silly question ;p). However I've been reading and lot, taking notes, and learning quite a bit of new things... things I had no idea of two days ago, question I thought were relevant yesterday I no long think are important today. When I have a few solid questions, ideas, and a better direction on things, I will definitely send you guys a pm. (I'd be crazy not to take a helping hand :D) So once again, Thanks for reaching out with a helping hand! And this community looks like a great place to spend my time!

Ps. Hekke your keyword search thread in your sig. was a real eye opener on thinking about thinks from a different point of view!

Ps. SemWord, are you affiliated with the site SemRush? (Or would you not like to comment on that, it is okay) [I actually just came across it through another thread.] I see that as a good way to being digging deeper into the keywords I find/consider.
