I just noticed something odd. I have a website which is a year old, it once ranked on the first position but my host expired and the domain got parked, this was 4 months ago. The competition on the first page is pretty tough with amazon, ebay and best buy running the first 5 results.
Last week I reclaimed the site, ran a backup, blasted with SB which left around 1000 live links to inner pages and main page, 300 Bookmarks, 1000 Wiki links and a couple of hundred web directories. 4 Days ago the site started to enter the serps again at 10-5 (Dancing) and since yesterday the site has been on position one, where it once was about 4 months ago.

My question, what is this magic? I'm getting 200 visitors and had 19 product clicks to amazon.

I'm sure I can't expect my rankings to stay but could this say something about the recent penguin/panda updates?

edit: what I forgot to say is that the domain was used as 301 to another site for about a month before I put wordpress+backup back

I would say give it time, if it is true you will stay there for over a month. Hard to tell, but I don't think you beat penguin. Maybe they have not crawl your site or links as of yet.

All of us that do seo daily for a living still don't understand half of what google looks at for rankings, We just try our best and hope for the best.. But keep us posted in the coming weeks where you rank..

So strange things happens last months.. one of my sites that is like 4 four years old and was always just one of my many unsuccessful sites that never had good positition with very little poor written content and youtube videos jumped on first page on quite competitive keyword and stays there. Site I put zero new stuff or backlinks for like two years :)
