My idea about managing children's computers via google extension

Hello everyone, it's me again, a 27 year old developer and 30k$ in debt due to gambling

I'm very stuck for ideas, and when I think of an idea, I don't dare to do it because I'm afraid of wasting effort and failing.

Currently, I have an idea in mind to make a google extension for parents to manage students' computers.

- The steps that will be taken will be : parents install the extension on Google on their computer, then manage it on their phone (I will give them an account to check the extension's operation).


This extension will include the following features
- Can check the most recent history that users searched via Google
- Can block some websites that they do not want their children to access
- Check what your children are interested in (you can use AI to evaluate search keywords)
- Capture the user's current screen
- Check if the browser is online or not


I think because google extension is quite powerful, I can complete the above features easily
I don't know if this silly idea of mine can make money?
Can anyone with experience implementing ideas help me?

I would do some market research. Try googling as though you are a parent who wants to control your child's web browser and see what other solutions you find. I'm sure there are some, although I don't know if they take the form of a browser extension. After you've poked around and seen the competition, decide whether you think there's room for you. And even if there's not room for you, can you create room with clever marketing?

But if you just want a gut check on whether the idea is valuable in a vacuum, I'd say yes, sounds interesting. Not crazy to think that there's potentially money there, market conditions permitting.

I just did some investigation, it seems like there's quite a bit of software being createdBut it seems like it's a window app, then users will install it on the computer they want to monitor so they can manage more things than the website.As for mine, it's only google chrome w

This is still the gambling mindset. As you are still waiting on the big opportunity, instead of just failing more cheaply on business risks. Damn, if you had spent and wasted that same money on domains and hosting and projects over the years, you would have more knowledge and skills leverage. But you don't so you still have this uphill learning curve to climb. Like it or not you must work long days long months and long years for success.

Take your idea and get as far as you can with it, if something stops you and you can't make money from it. Take note, and try something else, and try to go further to earn money from the marketplace. Repeat.

It sounds like a useful idea. I don't see big money in it though. There are already parental control options in Google accounts which can be controlled via family settings. Plus, your idea also would only control at the website level. So it wouldn't help on YouTube or TikTok, which in my experience is where children often come across content their parents wouldn't want them to see. It also doesn't help on mobiles or tablets, which are how most children are accessing the internet. Can you solve those problems? If so, there's likely to be a lot more interest.

If you're set on looking to make money from an application, try and consider it from the users' perspective. Usually, people are usually willing to pay big for health, wealth or happiness. I don't see where this idea fits into those categories, which is why I see it as being useful, but not one with big money in it. It's the kind of thing you see and think "hey, that's a good idea" but never actually buy (the ring doorbell is one of those kind of products for me.) A good marketer may be able to find an angle to sell it, but if you're in so much debt, do you really have the money to pay a marketer to find that angle and sell it?

As Panther28 says, the only way you can know if something will make money is to build it and get real user feedback. If it doesn't work, build something else, rinse and repeat until you make something that people want. You may be really lucky and have a winning idea on your first attempt, or you may still be searching on your 50th. But you will learn from each time it doesn't work. If you're placing all of your hope on one idea, you're still gambling with the opportunity cost of all of the other things you could be doing to make money. I replied to your other thread, and I'll repeat what I said, if you can't afford for the product to fail, start freelancing, make some money, save some so that you have something to fall back on, then get out there and start building products.

Your idea is great and pretty sure if you have the targeted the right market, it will be profitable.

Quit gambling!

Parental controls are already a standard feature on most devices...and also, responsible parents aren't letting their children unsupervised on any computer or phone. If you expect people to pay you for what you are offering and you don't have money to run ads, you'll probably have to rely on giving away a basic "free" version with a paid version having some enhanced features.

And do we really need "ai" to evaluate search queries? Keyword lists work just fine for that purpose.

Here is an idea:
You have an already advantage by being a programmer/developer.
Focus your efforts and learn SAP - you'll get to those $30k on a monthly basis by servicing clients.
