Hi guys, I am a freshmen from college who majors in Physics. Even though my course is not aligned with coding, i really want to learn it hoping i can make my own website in the future. Do you have any list on where i can get coding courses for free? and suggestions on where should i start first.

Udemy, coursera are two main ones.
Also check bhw download section.
You can get a cheap edu account from a coursera seller check bhw marketplace.
Most of the udemy courses have discounts or if you google you will find the download for free or 100% coupon.
Lot of info is also avialablie on youtube for free but most will ask you to buy their full course.

The basics : HTML, CSS , JS , PHP
As a plus : MySQL or MongoDB

Then you can jump to React , Laravel.

There are plenty of free resources to help you get started with coding:

Codecademy (Free Plan) - Great for beginners with interactive lessons. Start with HTML and CSS to learn the basics of web structure and design.
freeCodeCamp - Offers a full curriculum in web development, covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and more.
LinkedIn Learning - They offer free courses occasionally, and you might get access through your college or local library. Look for web development fundamentals.
Google Digital Garage - Offers free courses, including beginner coding and web development. It's a great way to start learning the basics.
edX and Coursera - Look for free web development courses from top universities.

I recommend starting with HTML and CSS to build and style web pages, then moving to JavaScript for interactive elements. Good luck on your coding journey!

I advise you to start for a web programmer : HTML, CSS
The advantage will be to find employment: MySQL and PHP

Udemy courses are great to learn about web-dev and coding. You should start by learning Html, then move on to CSS and javascript.

I taught myself how to code from scratch whilst working as a mechanic, I managed to change career and have been in tech for 2 years now.

If you're self-taught it's best to learn web (html, css, js, react, node). I tried MANY different resources to learn but ultimately I learnt the most from the foundations path on the odin project which taught me html, css and basic js.

I then tried lots of different courses and learning material as I tried to get a good understanding of JS but kept getting stuck - until ai got Jonas JS course on Udemy - it's super in-depth and made me very capable with JS.

I ended up using someone elses course for React (can't remember name but also on Udemy) but about halfway through that I got my first job. Jonas (the guy who made the JS course) did at some point release a React course and if that was available when I was learning I definitely would have went with that.

The other (and less recommended) option is html, css, js, wordpress, php - I actually think this option is better. Most local web dev agencies aren't building full custom sites for small businesses with react, they're mostly using wordpress, SOMETIMES using/creating custom themes and blocks and using plugins for extensibility (custom fields, custom post types + lots of other things), this path is better for getting a job because there are usually a lot of local web dev agencies in every city building these types of sites for local businesses.

My suggestion to where you start first is here : https://roadmap.sh/full-stack
Having a good roadmap and knowing the steps is crucial (at least for the initial part until you have better understanding of how things work), or you'll end up overwhelmed by many topics, many technologies, languages, and frameworks.
This website gives a good detailed roadmap alongside some resources, all organized in a good way, and not only for web dev, but for virtually everything in programming and tech.
As for the resources, the best resource to learn is the one you have at hand right now. Do yourself a favor and never hop between different resources and courses, take one resource and get done with it before moving on to the next thing.

If I'm to suggest, I'd say; Go check the roadmaps, have an idea about the whole thing, start by reading the few topics to have a good starting idea, pick a resource of the roadmap for the first thing (w3schools will make for good introductory reads, freecodecamp is one good and totally free resource). Follow along freecodecamp HTML/CSS/JS courses, BUILD SOMETHING even if it's the silliest of things, you've to practice and use your newly acquired knowledge and put it into action, when you're facing any problem or bug google it, better not use AI when you're just begining. Once you're comfortable writing html/css, and have a good idea what javascript is and how to write basic code, it'll be easy for you to follow along the roadmap on your own, and know how and where to find good resources, and what exactly you need to know.

Hope this helps, best of luck!

If you want to pivot into web development learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript, those are the foundation. Then move to Tailwind CSS, React, APIs. If you want to be a full stack developer you can also learn Nodejs, Express and Mongodb

Yes, obviously you'll find most of the answers on Udemy, it's an affordable learning platform. But before going for that, you can try W3Schools for web development. I hope it helps you learn some of the fundamentals.

Most easy and effective way to become a Web Developer is WordPress platform!
