Not only was this the most epic thing i have ever done in my life, there is a cool story to go with it.
The guy who I did the skydive with is actually a good friend of mine. When I was 18 I moved to Tenerife for 6 months to work as a PR. I lived on a complex that was strictly for workers only, caller the San Raff, it was a shithole, but there was a great sense of community and everyone looked out for each other. While I was there I met many great people, this one guy Ben was an avid fisherman like myself, so we went on many fishing trips whilst living there. We also had some crazy nights out, partying till 5pm the next day, staying up eating LSD, MDMA and drinking till we collapsed. Hey, we were young...
Anyway, 10 years later and that kind of activity is a thing of the past for me. So I was in Sydney last month and decided to go jump out of a plane. I turn up at the center and fill out my forms and such. Then the woman says "the group thats just gone up are about to jump if you want to watch them come down". So I went outside to see the chutes open and watch them land.
So I'm stood there watching these people land and then over walks this guy, I took a glance and was like "damn, i know that face from somewhere..." Then he goes "OMG Wayne, is that you?"
WTF, I had not seen Ben for 10 years, had no contact via Facebook or anything and he just strolled over like the lone ranger. I thought is was pretty neat considering I was in Sydney and the last time we spoke was 10 years ago in Tenerife.
He asked me if i wanted to go crazy on the jump or just a regular jump, I said lets go crazy man. So we done a few flips and spins, then when it come to the chute opening, shit got crazy, I was near enough parallel to the horizon, it was amazing.
If you have not done a skydive before, I strongly recommend it.
