Should I buy a domain from namecheap and host my site with servinio or buy a year with hosterbox and get my domain for free? OR JustHost(sale going on, +free domain) OR somewhere else?

This will be my first website and I don't really know where to go. Any suggestion on where to buy or info about how this works is appreciated.

Also, on hoster box you can buy this-
SSL Certificate + Dedicated IP - SSL Certificate, lets you encrypt your connection between users and your website. ($3.00 USD Monthly + $15.00 USD Setup Fee)
They also offer ID PROTECTION for 10 dollars,
what's the point ID, SSL+Dedicated IP? should I get any of those?? Do I need this? I don't know if servinio offers this?!

Any info on sites or tips are welcomed.

Thanks for helping me.

update: I am going with justhost if noone tells me otherwise by tomorrow. It's 70 dollar for 2 years(+freedomain +Whoisprivacy) is that a good price?

I would suggest getting your domain from a seperate site (ex: internet.bs) than your hosting. Mainly because several clients developed issues with their hosting provider and eventually got locked out of their website and domain name. It also allows you greater flexibility in most cases.

For hosting itself, I would suggest getting a company with great support and track record. I've never heard of any of the ones you posted. A cheap but decent one is hostgator. An expensive but very helpful one is handsonwebhosting. Any site that advertises unlimited bandwith, storage, mysql database (size) are lying. Just had to throw that out there.

SSL Certificate requires a dedicated IP. An SSL certificate does encrypt the data sent and received but unless you have a need for it (ex: ecommerce, sensitive information) then you can ignore it. At $15 for the certificate, I'd be questioning what type it is. Self signed certificates create warnings on most browsers (and cost nothing to actually make) while certificates from the major security groups (thawte, geotrust) usually cost $50/year minimum.

ID protection is there to hide your name, address and phone number from domain registration records. If you don't have it, the information you bought the domain with will be posted publicly and anyone can access it.

I went with HostGator :D How long does it take them to activate your account? It's been 1 hour.

Depends on where you live, your payment method and other factors determined by their fraud detection system.
1st world countries, <50 miles from CC address based on IP, no proxy or tunnel and valid addresses get approved faster.

Hostgator is good , you have selected the right Package

And about account setup it will take max 24 hours

im with hostgator, never had an issue and great support

The point is you have to check the webhosting provider and domain provider credibilty, especially your domain provider. Don't just interested because their price is cheap. I have bad experience with domain provider that offer their price very cheap. But the provider you have mentioned in your thread is excluded.
For domain provider, ask them if you will have full control of your domain, such as you can change your domain DNS anytime you want via a domain control panel.
I would suggest that choose different provider for your domain and hosting.
And for the SSl and dedicated IP. If your website isn't provide something.....confidential, I think you might skipped it for now. Maybe other members can add more info?
