Ok. I'll post my results here too. If it helps people then thats a good thing.

I am in the music niche. I have my own product. i also make bots but this is not that.

I have a subscription site. makemusicformoney. The site has training videos on it that teach people to do what i do and that is get music placed on TV shows and sell music and get royalties and that sort of thing.

I did two media buys on buysellads. The banner ads i purchased there send people to my squeeze page. it is howtogetyourmusicontv.

The people that would subscribe to my site are obviously musicians. So i bought banner ads where musicians go. buysellads was a little limited in what they had but there was some that looked on. Sitescout has absolutely no sites where musicians go.

I bought a banner ad for $16 for 5000 impressions and another for $199 for 10,000 impression. The one for $199 I wish I did not buy. But too late. here is what they are doing so far:

So far no sales but 2 of those 4 clicks signed to my mailing list.

On your squeeze page - you may get more signups by taking off the price, unless they have to pay that to signup.

Thanks for sharing your experience, we are watching how this comes out for you.

I have a mobile media buy going on and I am documenting it also for the group.

0.46% is approximately my conversion on banners right now too.

yes that is the price to sign up and it also mentions that price in the video. Right now they stay on the video for about 1minute 30 second and the video is about 7 minutes.

it is hard to get someone to watch a 7 minute video but they know if if they want it by that amount of time. Also most people that sign up come back after watching it and sign up.

I am averaging about 1 sign up every 6 viewers so far.

Not much change in my stats today

so i am learning that on some websites all the traffic you are going to get will occur in the first 24 to 48 hours or so. so buying a banner for a month is no good.

Really, I haven't seen this - thanks for the heads up. Are you on network traffic of some kind? BSA?

Yes I bought these on BuySellAds

So now I have only 18 clicks out of 12,200 impression and no sales.

Same conclution, i bought 3 banners from different websites in BSA, got 140click (0.12 CTR) and no sale.

Only tried. Buy sell ads once about a year ago. Gonna give it a shot again soon. Good luck !

Thank you for sharing your results, however, I do have a few pointers that I would like to state (from a marketing perspective):

1. You might want to enhance the landing page by adding more graphics, maybe also changing/tweaking the current theme you're using. Also, Try making the video stand out by making it the first thing that the visitors see, not having to scroll down for it.
2. Try to collect emails, build a relationship, then sell to them later. It will greatly boost your overall signups and thus landing you more sales on the long run.
3. Make the video shorter. As you've mentioned before, the average watch time on your video is 1:30 minutes. A short 1 minute video that goes straight to the point should fare way more better. Try to make an infographical video with cool animations that describes your benefits and why should they sign up with you, and most importantly, add great music to it. As musicians and artists, these might be the key selling points and the way they would be able relate to you, and listen from you as a pro.

All in all, I've read some other case studies regarding CTR & CR from BSA, and I have to say it's not very impressive either. I've also read that some their publishers inflate their own traffic stats with fake. Then again, it can't be always the case and some people might have had better results that from what I've read.

Wow..... so you paid $ 215 for some 20 odd clicks and 3 sign ups (you said you get 1 sign up every 6 views).

Damn son, that's like $10 per click and nearly $70 CPA!

You need to fix your landing page (it looks really cheap and tacky), go on myspace and contact people and build your reputation on there. At least that will be for free.

Send me a PM if your site is in WP, I'll help ya make it a little nicer.

Here is one of the best performing banner ads targeting musicians that isn't selling equipment or advertising tours/concerts- 728x90-b1a0eed6c68b59bde29dbf3709e39924.jpg

And here is the corresponding landing page:

If this banner has been running this long across these sites then it must be returning well..

Note the differences between a successful funnel and yours - tweak, copy the banner designs including color choices, tweak your landing page etc

I guarantee, you will see vast improvements!
