Hi BHW

This is my first journey and looking forward to getting it under way, I got my inspiration right here on BHW. I started this journey to share my experiences but also to help keep me motivated. Any tips also greatly appreciated :)

So what is the plan?
I see a lot of journeys out there that start with an income as the goal and I want to be different as the income is not my reason for doing this, the niche i have selected is something I am passionate about it comes up in my day job. I will monetize site with Amazon Associates though but it's not my primary reason.

The goal will be to make money but i think putting a figure would be a let down if don't make so I'm going to say the goal is to make more than $100 in 3 months after that i will focus more on monetisation as hopefully will be ranking more.

Now This thread is a bit late as started some stuff already, so what has been done

  • Keyword & Niche Research
  • 12 articles 8 published on site
  • 6 of the 8 have been indexed but aren't ranking in top 200. First question should i check again in 48 hours as they only indexed today? Should I check Keyword Density to see if overoptimization could be to blame, I don't think it is to be fair?
  • All articles interlink
  • It is not an exact mach domain
  • Made a soup.io post about a topic related to my niche with a link to the root, drip feeding 10k links to this as we speak

Plan
  • Write more articles
  • Monitor Rank
  • Create another one web 2.0 and start backlinks. Doing this slowly as site is too early in my opinion to start a fully blown link campaign.
  • Create a FB & Twitter Profile/Page (goal 100 Likes and 100 Followers)
  • Keep updating BHW on progress
If you have any advice or tips id be greatful hope you enjoy my journey and hopefully it helps others that haven't taken the plunge.

Thank you, looking forward to see results... Quick update for my articles, my keyword density is all under 2% so i doubt its an overoptimization penalty that's stoppin them rank in top 200 hopefully its just a time thing lol. Im using the SEO Book tool to check density in case anyone was wondering :D

find a pbn provider you like or maybe a web 2.0 network you like and buy some links. if these sites are good in regards to onsite seo then you just need links. personally i think the ranking costs of amazon sites to what they payout is too hard to make profitable but best of luck .
 
I am starting as an amazon site but going to grow it to an authority so kept it pretty general with regards to niche product type one till it starts ranking but various articles on other aspects of the niche not just related to that one product :D
 
Hi Guys

So today I have got another article published, polished and its good to go.

Started a twitter account and so far got 12 real followers and following 44, Also set up auto tweet with RSS feeds with the niche, just so there's content! To help I have also scheduled so quote type tweets... All done using hootsuite, don't know if this is best method but slow and steady is my game and this is only method i know.

As for ranking when i put site mygreatsite in google it shows all my posts even new ones so this is positive.

Created wordpress web 2.0 and wrote one article will let get indexed and fire some tier twos around 10K again. These two web 2.0s are basically just to get the ball rolling like saying hi. Will wait a bit longer before i start proper link building.

As for analytics, i have been getting small traffic less than 10 in about 15 hours, but it's from organic search. Avg time is 18 mins... It has not provided keyword but this can only be a good thing! If it was direct i would have assumed it was me but as its organic search im staying positive.

Amazon Income: $0 made to date -> 6 clicks

Good luck mate. You definitely have a solid plan, so just follow through with it and you'll be golden. I'm sorta workin on something similar so I'll be keeping an eye on your thread.

One tip I can give, is to contact the maker or seller of the products you advertise through twitter or something, and get them to share your stuff on their pages. One of my advertisers found an article I wrote through a tweet and retweeted it once, so now I take it upon myself to at least try.

This is a great tip maybe as time goes on will look at that i also have another twist similar to this, sorry guys not going to mention in this journey if goes well ill post method later on :P

Ok guys, so this weeks update 3 more articles on the site, publishing about 1 a day.

Twitter setup but pretty slow on gaining followers, I am posting frequently following active twitter users who have favourited or RT my competitors. Wait a few days and unfolllow some more... Following about 100 per day!

Facebook nearly ready to go live just waiting on my new logo and cover image :D

Another web 2.0 set up was indexed only today since friday so i will add link to it now and also blast it with 10k backlinks to give it some juice. Also plan to write another quick article for it so it appears natural.

Also joined a forum about my niche and added link to profile, but i didn't just spam the forum I have been participating and getting few referrals from that source.

Plan:
Keep going with articles, monitor twitter and keep posting
Get Facebook launched

Should be updating progress after this...

So folks today has been bit more productive...

Wrote 3 articles for the money site

Added one more article to a previous web 2.0 no link just to make the 2.0 look natural. Added link to the other post as it is now indexed. No more linking for now till over 30 articles.

Twitter followers up by 10 today...

Facebook launched and integrated with site, shared with friends initially and so far at 15 likes, might do exchange just to get to 30 to see stats but maybe not lol... Got some fake accounts so ill be liking with them and getting them to share... will also capitalise on funny vids directed at my niche by commenting as the page... Scheduled 3 posts to run today and will add some more for rest of week... Any more FB tips appreciated!

As for rankings not much getting small traffic from twitter, forum and like 1 from google organic. Still early so not expecting much though.

You seem to have a well.

When I make Amazon aff sites, I usually let them sit for a while while I publish 20 or so articles. I let them index first before I start with off-page SEO. As for off-page SEO I find a diverse link profile effective. If the competition is low enough, I usually rank on the first page within 3 months or so.
 
Just make sure that your posting the articles consistently mate. That's half the job done right there. Good going so far.
