WARNING: FaceFlip may cause your grandmother to laugh uncontrollably!

Hey everyone I decided to write a post on my first iPhone App and some of my experiences in the process.

I've been wanting to get into the app market for a few years now but never did. I finally motivated myself in April to get my first app in the market in 2 months.

I immediately began to research the market intensely looking and picking apart all the apps I could for ideas. After filling up a notebook with ideas I picked one and started the process right away.

Then in June of 2012 My first App FaceFlip was accepted into the app store.

In just two days it received 500+ downloads and we have 11 ratings all positive :)

Right now I only have the Free version of faceflip in the store but I'm already working on the Pro Version. It will be 99cents and have many more features and no ads :)

I decided to start development on the Pro version already because of all the great feedback and demand we are getting.

Then use the free version to promote the Pro version. I will also put a lot of time in the facebook page with other promotion methods I will be using :)

The overall experience has been a blast as I have learned so much and really enjoyed creating something that can make people laugh.

I would really like your feedback on it as I'm always thinking of ways to make it better. I already have a list of updates I'm working on lol. Right now it's only on the iPhone.

I hope you get some good laughs out of my app :)

Hey pretty creative app idea. How much money do you make off of ads? Also be sure that you have a large social media presence because this is how these things spread like wildfires. At very least make sure you have a facebook page so people can like your app and share it with their friends and get more downloads.

Congrats on the app, would love to do something similar myself. Is it expensive?

How did you make the app? Im looking to go into the app market and could do with some help any advice you post here about your journey wouls be appreciated

Thanks I really appreciate it :)

It all depends on the complexity of the app. It helped me knowing a good bit about design so I could create interactive wireframes so the developers had less questions and could accomplish more tasks.

It depends on the day averages between .75 - 1.50 per day. This is with no promotions. After I finish the pro version and update the free version I will do a massive press release to promote both. Goal is to get as many reviews as possible to move it up the charts :) Also change the focus of the free version from ads to promoting the pro version.

I already have a facebook page and website setup. I will use it to run contests, show tutorials, and share crazy funny pictures.

Very cool and congratulations. It looks like mobile apps are the way to go since eventually everyone will have not just a smartphone but a tablet as well. My understanding is that iPhone apps are way better for developers since Android stuff is too easy for other people to steal your ideas from. Any thoughts on that?

Sure first thing I did was research the market thoroughly downloading hundreds of apps and spending hours playing with different functions so I knew how to layout a good functional app.

Then I designed a mockup in photoshop creating or laying out all the screens I would need to be developed. I like to use invisionapp

Then the tricky part is to find great developers. I found a good one at elance but I sifted through hundreds of developers over the course of one week to really make sure I picked the right one.

The most important part is to get an idea and just run with it. The more you hesitate the more your going to shoot yourself in the foot in the future.

That makes since to me as Apple keeps everything inhouse. Also users on iOS platforms are statistically shown to spend more money. I still plan to release it to the android market and also making a desktop version of the app in the future as well.

Congrats looks like it could go viral. So basically you came up with the app idea and you outsourced the app development to a developer? How much did you spend for the app development? Do you have any programming knowledge? Thanks

I do have some programming knowledge and I paid around 3K to have it developed.
