Hello friends.

I recently decided to create my first website. I am going through hard economic times here in my country Venezuela so I don't have money for a hosting, so I used blogger to host my web site.

I got a free domain for the first year at nominalia, and to choose the niche I took a long tail keyword that I got by analyzing a bigger website.

I have a couple of questions which, I think, are normal for beginners in this world.

1) I made 8 articles and 2 pages referring to the topic of my keyword. Can I rank with that amount of articles ? I haven't created more content because the keyword is quite specific and I don't want to make more articles that talk about basically the same thing.

2) if I am not going to create more content, what should I do while the website gets indexed and starts giving me results ?

I have been told that link building should be done later or, failing that, in a natural way.

I have no money to invest in links or anything else, all the articles and such I did myself. I have chosen a low competition niche with an average of 7-10k searches per month in total precisely because of my newbie status.

What could I do to help rank the site ?
Should I just wait to see if it gives me results and that's it?

Any comment I will be grateful.

Take a look at the following threads. Read them carefully. Some of the info there is outdated, but it's a great start:

Keep updating your blog with content - you don't have to write posts about a single keyword. Write about multiple related keywords/topics in the niche you've chosen. Think of it like it's a magazine.
You will probably not see immediate results and that can get to you and you'll feel discouraged. That's why I would recommend to look into "parasite SEO" - research it. Don't leave your main project - just start doing it in parallel for immediate results.

Start here:

https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/guides-unpopular-parasites-that-work-like-a-charm.1236139/

Again, some of the info is outdated, but you will find real gems in those threads. Dig around in the forum for more info on the subject.
Also: find a way to purchase your own domain. You don't want to work on somebody else's property. Freelancing websites are your friends.

There are SEO guides around the forum that still have valid link-building techniques, however, most people choose to ignore them in favor of bigger and better links overall. You will have to start with manual outreach, forum links, web 2.0's, and comments. All done to the best of your ability. While you are at it, look at ranking another site, and putting up articles there, so you have a convey belt going with a niche every 2 months or something. In between that take a look at software development courses on udemy, and youtube, and build up your knowledge for the possibility of more opportunities. I'm sure good Venezuela programmers collect dat dough! :)

I strongly suggest you try and buy another domain in your country.

You literally have MILLIONS of articles ready to be translated into your language. It won't make you rich, but judging by your situation right now, this could bring you some bucks real quick real easy. Just translate everything under the sky.

Do not worry about a penalty. Since it's your natural language, you will be forced to do edits to make it sound natural anyway. This alone will modify it enough to not pose any issues in the future.

If you never believed a stranger online, take this chance with what I'm saying. It could change your life for the better.
I have friends in Venezuela and I know shit is hard there right now.

Whatever you do, don't quit. Give it all you got for at least a year.

Thank you all for your responses, I am very grateful.

Your recommendation is that I use translated articles to create my own websites or to sell them to other people ?

Most Spanish speaking people tell me that translating articles can be bad, but I'm not sure about that. Some time ago I talked to a guy who only used translated articles.

Hi there, Maybe try starting a Facebook Group on the same topic as your blog and link it to your website, Groups grow fast and you can get plenty of visits from Facebook groups.
