Since fb's income comes from ads mostly and all the big companies push huge amounts of cash towards their bank accounts it is absolutely normal for them to create an algorythm that only puts us page owners in disadvantage. I am talking here about the type of pages that are communities, especially the ones that are very old, titled something similar to "OMG this is freaking awesome .. don't you think?" etc. Just an example.
Nowadays fb users can make a difference between quality and crap and moreover the trend is gone. Not many are interested in these kind of old school pages.. not even kids.. as someone else mentioned in this post it is becoming a "pay to play" indeed. Everything is ad related, trusted brands etc.
I own over 8 million likes at the moment and trying to get some decent engagement for 2 weeks now. With over 40 million likes in total over a period of 5 years I can say owning pages that are not targeted to a specific product, service, public person, business etc. are quite a waste of money to invest in. Even if you come by pages that have a great engagement these days, it's only temporary, these come from the virals people run on facebook with a little bit of luck and knowledge. They will eventually die.
The whole online world is transforming into a platform that offers quality and worst thing for us here is that most of the bh stuff is simply vanishing day by day, it is a fact. They want us to pay for traffic and offer quality, all whitehat content etc.
Anyhow meanwhile, while all the community facebook pages last, I am open to discuss ideas on how to grow user engagement. My reach at the moment is steady growing but not even hitting a decent 10% compared to last years results.
Example : 750k+ likes pages carefully planned post, viral, useful content, etc. gets a reach of 2k and some 200 likes and under 50 shares.
PM me for some brainstorming.
