Hey all,

Seeking some advice here...

1 year ago on 25/01/14 my eBay account got banned. Selling product codes. Yes! Naughty me I know but anyway here we are...

As a brief refresher course, as I have talked about this before, as a knock-on effect my PayPal got banned at the same time. Both were permanently limited but I managed to get the PayPal back and still use it to this day. However, eBay are like a brick wall.

I have been in contact with eBay via the live chat system on their website. Now here is where it gets tricky...

I spoke with an agent who informed me they had just checked my account and the suspension could be lifted on the 1 year anniversary of the ban, 25/01/15, and I would be free to use the account again. This was a few days before that. So, I waited and of course nothing happened. I contacted them again and they transferred me to the listings department who told me that under no circumstances could my account be reinstated and that the agent who I spoke to previously had misinformed me and actually told me that agent wasn't even trained to deal with such cases.

So, where do you think I stand on this? I mean, regardless if someone is trained or not, I have been told that my account could be re-instated on said date and I have the chat log to prove it.

i'm afraid you can't do much, if they say that the person was incompetent, maybe try to contact somebody else of their reps and see if there's any consequency in what the 3 different person say

i know that a stealth ebay acc is a pain in the ass, but always an option

Thanks. Its not all that crucial that I get it back but I really only want it to buy some things. I'm saying not all that crucial because I don't want to have to go down the route of a stealth account and a new PayPal. I'd just prefer to have my own one back.

Did you just do a live chat? I highly recommend phoning support as they will be of better help. Now sure if live support really is as good as their phone support in fixing such matters.

It's pretty common for one rep to say one thing (especially if they just want you to go on your way) while another says the complete opposite. Most likely your account is done for good. If they sent you an email giving you instructions on how to appeal the suspension (usually you need to submit ID and invoices), then that's your best shot at getting the account back. If they said it's suspended indefinitely then you're fighting a losing battle. Of course you have nothing to lose (but your time), so you should still fight it and hope for the best, but don't expect a good result. In the meantime you should move on to creating a stealth account to get back to selling. If you ever do get your original account back, then it would be a nice bonus.

Sue them?!? It's only an online account man... Not life or death!

Thanks for all the above comments, good help. I have only been in contact through the live chat, I guess I should try calling them and see what happens.

In a slight update, I just finished a live chat where the first agent told me, yes it could be reinstated as of 25/1, transferred me and I was told that was wrong info. AGAIN!
