My Ebay experience so far

OK well, I've sold thousands of items on ebay, I ran a ebay business for a pawnshop, electical company, a satellite company and yes i sold hundreds of satellite rcvrs, dishes, cards, etc. I also ran one for a non profit, besides for myself.

I was on the forum about a week ago and started looking for ways to make a profit. I contacted a couple people and decided to do business with one of them.

Here was the deal. I list software nib and he delivers them. I keep 15 dollars. software is sold for 100. I listed the items and 2 sold quick. Then he was like ok send me the money and Ill send them the product, and then thats when I realized for the first time mind you (how dumb of me) that I was going to have to pay for these six items I listed before I even knew that the customer was happy or before I know if ebay will screw me. I was so scared I would be left owing 600 dollars and I just can't lose money like that now or I can't afford the risk.

So I refunded the two sales and called it off. I apologized it was my fault for not thinking all the way through first.

After I backed out the other person offered for me to wait until I got pos feedback to get paid and I would have followed through if that was the original deal.

Either way it was my fault I mean I tracked this guy down. What a duche I am. I apologized and maybe if I get the balls or If I get a stealth ebay accnt I will do it then.

Has anybody had success failure with this exact method? I know I'm stupid for not thinking about the payment issue till the end that's my fault but should i have gone through with it?

A couple notes
1. When I searched ebayers selling the same product at the same price I found that none of them had a good history of selling this product at this price. ALL of them had been selling other things and then just recently started.
2. I was told by someone that Ebay will catch on and automatically refund all of my sales and close my account.

Any information would be great. As a side note. I am still looking for ways to make money on ebay. I have a good standing account that is from 08. Of course, after this story who would want to work with me?

Finally, initially the guy was a little pissed understandably but i just told him the truth and he chilled out. I felt like a big sissy though.

Ok this is really final, another thing that kind of made me feel things were a little off is when the other guy just blows off any concerns I have. He made it seem like there is nothing at all to worry about. I would have expected more direct answers like yes you could potentially lose your ebay account. If indeed you have stuff for me to sell, you want me to sell with you for a long time. So, if I have to go and set up stealth accounts let me know and then I could get started on it now, then to wait until it's too late.

Also, I am interested in selling replicas. I think that software is too easy to get in trouble, where as a nice watch, or clothes that someone buys for a good price and good quality less of a chance to get in trouble.

Anyone have anything to say about that? I'm probably wrong, since I don't know jack I probably shouldn't give my opinion on the subject.

who can do drop shipping for you. i give you all the possible details i could get and
you contact them via email or calling preferred and approach them to do business with you. all legit no shits. you will never be in any trouble no sleepless nights LOL.

Well for starters if you were selling these under a non stealth account be glad you backed out. You could have gotten in a lot of trouble for selling software that was more than likely pirated and that you did not have the rights to distribute.

These guys with stealth accounts bounce from product to product to avoid a reputation of selling one product or another. It is a bad idea to sell this stuff anywhere not just ebay, og yeah its illegal too.

just one more note, you were selling this stuff for $100 and keeping $15 (after your fees you make about $5) and taking all the risk while someone who paid probably $8-10 for software keeps over $50 profit after shipping and your $15, doesnt seem fair at all. I am not recommending this at all but if you were to get a stealth account and wanted to cut out the middle man you could just buy the stuff yourself from one of many china wholesalers for pennies on dollar, but I think staying legit is the way to go. You would be taking a whole new risk in importing and you would have to come up with the money to buy the product up front, but I would rather do that that make someone else rich.

Yeah that makes sense. I am working with someone now that I trust. I am using my account and someone else and will be careful to have variety and not sell alot. Really this is just to make some cash right now. If I get scammed I'll b sure to warn everyone. thanks.
