My E-Books Selling Journey

Yo BHW Fam,

Today is 02/26/2026 decided to start selling E-books. I'm currently on an online business but it's gray so I thought I should switch to more of white areas due to the sake of legality and also payment gateways.

Anyways, I've worked a bit on an E-book about divorce since I've dealt with one before and it was a big part of my life. I'm not talking about BS E-books here but real info to share with people who need it and also some checklists to help folks out and other resources.

So I can say that the E-book is done and the website is pretty much done too (not hosted yet and needs a payment method). I know that one of the important things is marketing. I'm currently going to market on Reddit, I know the ins and outs of the platform and I will make sure to be genuine about it, then would probably either move to Google ADS or Facebook Ads. I honestly never did any kind of ADS like paid ads since I've had a lot of success with Reddit only ( Not Reddit ADS ) so basically I paid less and made ton of money.

Now I'm in a phase where I prefer to have a lot of questions asked that way I can work on the execution plan and also keep updating this post for those who will need it in the future.

My biggest questions are :
1) Does it really work? Please answer if you got some good money from it. If you gave up then why?
2) Are there any good Marketing Strategies / Platforms you had luck with.
3) Are Stripe / PayPal enough as payment gateways / Processors.
4) Are there some tools that help you with the business that BHW and ppl like me can use.

Divorce is a solid niche for this. High emotional stakes, people are actively searching for help, and they will actually spend money when they need practical guidance rather than generic self-help content. The checklist angle is what makes it feel useful versus fluffy.

On Reddit - Salamouna is right that it works, but the timing matters a lot. Spend 2-3 weeks genuinely helping in r/divorce and r/relationship_advice before you drop any links. Fresh accounts pushing a product get downvoted fast in those subs. Build some comment history first, then weave in your link naturally when someone asks exactly what your book covers.

One thing a lot of people miss for this niche: Pinterest. Women going through divorce are very active on there and you can link directly to your site from pins without the self-promotion friction you hit on Reddit. Worth setting up alongside your Reddit strategy - the two complement each other well.

On Gumroad as a backup to Stripe: worth adding. New Stripe accounts sometimes flag sudden traffic spikes, and Gumroad takes a percentage cut rather than flat fees which is better when volume is still building.
 
I have seen some sellers selling E-books, maybe you can try to market the book here, obviously BHW is a huge community

I appreciate your effort to xplain and sharing the resources. I did take Pinterest for granted so thanks for reminding me. Will figure out a way to make them compliment each other well.
