But in any case, you could have any one of a number of issues, but you can easily right click your desktop and choose preferences and then change your settings...

If not you'll find the answer way quicker googling it or going on a windows forum than asking it on here. You have probably selected run in NT mode somewhere or changed the visual settings by mistake
It automatically swithched to classic mode because VLC is playing first song.mp3. Add last song.mp3 to the playlist. Everything should be back to normal then.
Also why are you in an IM forum if you don't know basic windows stuffs?
My computer->properties ->Advanced tab -> Performance -> Select the option (select best appearance regain what you want).
