ccleaner to generally clean up your computer and add/remove/edit start up programs. Malwarebytes anti malware (self explanatory), ccleaner does basic registry cleaning also but there are other programs for more in depth stuff. Antivirus, take your pick, free or paid? AVG, Microsoft security essentials, avast etc, spybot search and destroy used to be good but I haven't used it for some time and haven't seen recommendations for it.

All the above are free programs, majorgeeks.com is a great source to download them from.

If you are really infected with all the crap, best solution is to format and reinstall windows! :) good luck!

Avira antivirus its fast and accurate. Use tuneup utilities to clean everything else. It meets all your needs.

I would suggest this as an absolute last resort. I've never had to format and reinstall windows due to spyware, malware or even viruses.

OP, If you are getting browser hijacks another good program is hijackthis. Use this program with caution though. If you don't know what you're doing you can mess up your computer more. If you decide to use it I would suggest creating a log file and posting it on one of the forums that specializes in analysing the log files and they will tell you what to remove.

Everything that tuneup utilities does can be done with free programs available. I believe you only get a limited trial with this program.

cc cleaner to clean junk files

    edit your startup software yourself

start-run-msconfig - just take ticks out the box of stuff u dont want to load
then disabled un used services in services.msc for faster boot time

i think kaspersky is the best antivirus, if you get it with 2 friends you can get a 3 comp 2 years license at around $20/year which is quite cheap for how good it is. As for your computer, do a fresh install and install the antivirus first thing you do after the fresh install.
