My computer does not boot- black screen : (

The last few days my desktop computer does not boot up and just shows me a black screen. : (

Today i removed the battery for 20 minutes, and set it back in and now i still get the black screen and my computer now will not turn off while holding the power button down. I have to unplug the machine.

I have tried to boot up with the recovery disks and nothing.

Before the black screen problem started ,it would boot to my BIOS screen and i would have to hit F1 to continue to windows and it worked, but now im stuckon a black screen.

Please help.

NO Bios screen now when you power on?

If not.. then it's either the screen itself... or the video/motherboard...

You should ALWAYS get at least a POST screen.
 
Computer will no longer boot to BIOS screen. I have also tried safe mode and i still get the black screen.
 
It sounds like it may be a problem with the graphics card. You can determine what the problem is by the beeps made by the computer when booting up. This website will help you diagnose the problem. I can't post a url yet, but search for "computer self test beeps" on Google and you'll find a site called computerhope that should let you know what's wrong.

don't think that it is a graphics card.

-> make a video with sound and post here (it is the best you can do now - otherwise you and we will waste our time for different questions)
 
I think the question here is if it beebs. And if it beebs, how many times.

The amount of beebs will give you and indication on where to search.
Too lazy to google how many beebs for what but lets say its 2 beebs for the HDD and 3 times for something else.. :)

If it boots to your BIOS that means you have a serious issue to address. Ignoring it is not wise I found through experience. Unless you removed the battery from the motherboard of course. lol :P

From the link: Indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information

Problem solved me thinks? Well, not solved, but at least you know where to look. :)
 
My brother's Acer laptop had the same issue. You can do 2 things that may work:

1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHkGkw9EE8c Check out this video. Your bios software may be broken. These steps will reflash your bios. But you should be careful with this.
2) Give it to be fixed by an expert. My brother's laptop got fixed that way. Just 20$.

Do you ever see anything on the monitor, ever? Text, picture, anything?
Will it boot to other media, such as a Windows disk, Hirens, etc...?

Also, does the laptop have an "external video out" that you can connect an external monitor to?

Unplug, take out battery, and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Plug, hit power button, and see if it turns on. I don't know why it works but it does many times.

Another thing-if you shine a light on the monitor, do you very faintly see anything?
 
Check your ram,video card,hdd 'unplug-plug vice versa'.

Will help a lot if you have extra of this 3 ^. Also i forgot check your BIOS and update it.
