I have noticed that my competitors have set nofollow, noindex after they have ranked high. Also, they delete their sitemaps.

Why they did do this?

Hey!

You made a great observation! A lot of competitors that rank well use these strategies for a reason. Setting nofollow and noindex helps keep certain content hidden so search engines don’t index pages they don’t want visible.

Deleting the sitemap is a way to make it a bit harder for competitors to find all their pages. Basically, they’re trying to protect their info and maintain an edge.

It’s a pretty common tactic for keeping traffic focused on the important pages. What do you think?
They noindex core pages but still maintain rankings. Is this the right thing to do after achieved high rankings?

I think they do this to maintain their rankings, hide pages from unnecessary attention, and prevent their strategy from being copied.
