I just got my email from youtube saying that I can now earn revenue for adverts on my videos but how do I put the adverts on the videos?

You go into Video Manager and click on the grey dollar sign button which is to the left of the video stats. You can then choose what ads you want. You have to fill in some details about your video on that page aswell.

make sure your videos are all yours. I hear you then have to go through an additonal review stage.

Thub is right. If you don't own the copyright for your material, I'd be careful about monetizing them. It's not likely that you'll be banned if YT catches it but you won't be able to monetize the video and it could be removed. <---I've never had this happen myself (was just told 'No' and the video stayed active).

But, there's nothing to it.

Keep in mind, though, right now there is an EXTREME delay in YT approving videos for monetization. I have some that have been waiting on approval for well over a month. It's brutal. So, don't expect this to be a big revenue stream right now.

@padlock,
I don't know why they(google) would wait so long to open up another revenue stream, but what do I know? I just think they want to get their ads over as many peoples vids no matter what the cost.
I checked out of google pretty early on.

It is bizarre. I have no idea what the hold up is. To me, the most screwed up thing about the delay is that YT is saying nothing about the problem. If you search their forums for answers - there are none. Just a lot of pissed off people. It could be something as simple as a lack of staff to sort through all of the videos. But, if that's the case - why are they still approving everybody for monetization?

It used to be that it would take months and several videos to get offered monetization. Now, I've had accounts with one video with less than 50 views get offered to link AdSense. Things are definitely screwy at YT right now. I'm still uploading videos and creating accounts but I'm mostly focusing on sending traffic to my websites and not worrying about the AdSense money for now. Once the issues get sorted out, I figure I'll have a lot of videos ready to monetize. Personally, I kinda like making them anyway, so it's not as if it's a chore. Bottom line, though - I agree...WTF?
