Hi all, I posted about this about a month ago, but since then it has gotten much worse! My channel has about 100k subs (all organic), but the engagement is really bad. A year ago my videos would get atleast 50k views, sometimes up to 500k-1m. All organic. Now they are getting about 5-10k. And barely any comments or likes. The average watch duration is only about 20%. My video that i put up 1 week ago only has 20 comments. I was looking at a competitors videos in my niche and noticed lots of his comments are from fake accounts (looks like ones he made himself). So I tried the same, made a bunch of accounts and i leave a like + comment on my new uploads. And purchase some 'high retention' views from an smm panel. And put some money into adwords on each video. Hoping all this engagement would push the video up in ranking. But since doing all that it seems to be resulting in my videos getting even less engagment than before? And some of my subs tell me they dont get notifications when i upload anymore. Any suggestion on what i can do to fix it?

I'm thinking the SMM views are damaging the channel because the view duration is so short on them. Im considering stopping the smm panel, and using microwokers to get some higher retention views. What are your thoughts? Any tips / advice?

"The average watch duration is only about 20%"
how long the videos?

It could be an issue with the niche your channel is based on. Has the demand for the niche fallen off?

I am not very experienced or successful on YouTube, but from all of my testing over the last 3 months I have had only bad experiences with SMM panel views.

I am going to stay away from them for sure, especially if your channel is already monetized.

The same happened for my case, One year ago I continuously posted videos for 50 days and my channel was getting more views and subscribers. It continued for the next 6 months. Later it declined.

From my experience, this is because of Youtube Algorithm. Even if we have good subscribers and viewers in the past, if we leave a gap it takes some time for Youtube to drive traffic organically... Youtube Algo like channels which post content in regular interval.

In your case, I would suggest posting videos related to the same niche as you posted before continuously for some days. I feel this will help to bring old engagement back.

Related to the notification, I have a channel related to money-making, and when I post videos related to Youtube Channel creation and promotion, many subscribers were not getting notifications. For this, we need to ask our subscribers to subscribe to the "All" notification.

Forgot to mention, I have never used the SMM panel for my channel...I gained everything organic...

Hmm not really. My competitors are doing very very well, the demand is still there

It really sounds like your subs have turned your back against you then. All channels happen no matter what niche. Everything has its lifespan and unfortunately it died out. What is your average CTR?

In your case I would do two things: in the long term I would try to publish videos more regularly to resume the rhythm that your channel had in your beginnings and in the short term I would do a kind of raffle among your subscribers, the condition to participate is to like that video and post a comment. You can say that this giveaway is for thanks, or because you reached x amount of followers or for anything else. The winner will be chosen randomly within a week (from subscribers who liked and commented). The prize could be a gif card from Google Play or from Amazon of 50 or 100 dollars ... people like free things and surely some will subscribe just for the fact of being able to participate. If you suddenly have a lot of comments and likes in a video in an organic and spontaneous way, it could be that the YouTube algorithm gave a little boost to your channel again.
Clarification: I am not an expert nor do I have YouTube channels, I am just a spectator and I have seen similar strategies on several channels, I do not know if these tactics have been effective or not ... I hope it helps you.

This is what i assumed.. need to figure out how to get them back lol. My average CTR is 10-12%

your ctr is amazing. its just not all of your subs are engaging. this is the case for tons of channels. if you are getting around 5-10k views naturally with 20k subs, it means your actually doing pretty well. usually, with social media, there is a 10% rule. so with 20k subs its ideal to get around 2k views per video (just off of subs). so what I would do if i were you, is to find channels in the same niche as you that are doing extremely well, and make similar videos as them. at the end of the day, you really don't have control over your subs, all you can do is just post great content you enjoy and leave it at that.

Hmm 10-12% looks pretty healthy. Idk why YT didn't promote as often since my new vids tend to avg that %. It's prob cos of watch time and retention.

20% watch time is bad, good news is your CTR 10-12% is too good
Reduce the length of the video it surely improves the channel
Notification problem is real post in community tab before releasing video

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm going to stop using the smm panel, i think it's doing more harm than good. Going to try and improve the watch time % by making the videos more interesting and will expirement using some microworkers to increase retention. Also will do some type of raffle/giveaway for my subs. Thanks again for the suggestions

I think that this is a typical thing that happens to some channels after time.
