My CB Journey

Hi guy,

I thought I'd keep a bit of a journal here, not only to help me keep on track but maybe I'll come across a method that works and I can share it with you lot. I started my CB journey two days ago with my first mini goal in mind. Make $100 by the end of this month, so that roughly gives me 3 weeks.

I did some research, (Not enough however, I think) created my site with some fairly specific keywords and set up my sales page. At the moment I'm looking at 260 hops in two days, not too sure how good or bad of a start this is though. No sales to report though. Writing the content is no sweat whatsoever, it's getting ranked, indexed, linked to etc which I still need to wrap my head around a bit.

I think that first site was really a bit of a trial for me. I kind of got excited whilst doing my first round of researching and rushed in to it. If there's any advice I might be able to give during this journal it would be to not rush into thinks. I (think) I've now got a fairly good strategy down for researching niches and key words that will be easy to rank for, has high level of search engine traffic and sell well.

So making $100 by the end of this month is my short term goal. My long term goal would be to set up a site promoting a product, with unique content once a month. Then to have that site go on auto pilot as I make the next months site. Ideally, I'd like to that those sites that are very successful then create my own e-book for them which should hopefully increase profit as I promote them on CB and what not.

Bit of a big goal at the moment, but baby steps and all in due time.

I'm going to be doing a lot of research tonight, checking, cross checking, to make sure I find a niche and keywords that I can rank easily for. Although, and here's my next bit of advice for this thread, you have to take action at some stage. No point in constant research if you're never going to act on it.

So with that said, lets get money making.

I can't remember exactly what I said in my previous entry, something along the lines of my keywords getting ranked fairly high in Google and some such.

So this is my third or fourth day affiliate marketing and I've just found how much targeted traffic you can get from twitter. It's amazing. So many people are twitting about questions related to my niche. Gonzo, if you see this, do you use twitter much for traffic?

Oh and one more question for anyone, is there a way where I can see how long people are spending on my pages? I feel this would help me a lot in tweaking my pages.

Just so everyone knows, this wouldn't actually be a triple post! Since we lost a couple posts here and there and everyone got banned haha..

Anyway, My main site seems to be getting traffic all by itself now, which is nice. Although I think I'm doing something horribly wrong. Nearly at 1000hops for it now and not a single sale. Surely that's a terrible ratio? Twitter is pulling in a lot of traffic which is nice and the back links are growing fast, as are the number of pages being indexed higher on Google.

I'm doing a bit of an experiment right now actually. I'm seeing if just using Twitter by itself to advertise an affiliate link will generate a sale faster than actually setting up an entire website, creating articles for it and doing SEO for them. I recon the Twitter might be ok for short term, but for long term sales the website would be the better option.

Still, should be interesting to see which one gets a sale first.

I was getting a little discouraged to be honest. 1,200 hops and not a single sale seems like a completely and utterly terrible ratio. However, I just found out I'm second on Google for one of my keywords which has over 1,000,000 other hits so I'm pretty happy about that.

It was kind of idiotic of me to think that I'd be getting sales on my second day of having a site up, I realise now that that's the sort of fairy tales those "I made $400,000 within 20 seconds of having a website up" ebooks are made of.

I press on, however.

If you aren't getting sales, you should see if your product has a different landing page you could try. If your product's affiliate tools don't contain alternate landing pages, you might try sending your traffic to another product in that niche.

That's not a bad ideas actually. I'd just have to make my sales page a little more general I think, so that it could work for a different product.

Here's a question for anyone out there, have any of you had any luck with the adsense like ads that they offer?

1. In fact, that's one of the better ideas to take. Though it may be too early for you to take a drastic diversion like that, 1200 hops and no sales should tell you what's wrong and why.

2. I have had no impact on my sales with the adsense like ad.

But just tell me how you got to 2nd position on Google SERP in just 2-3 days? Amazing, ain't it?

Obviously this person has never met me before because I don't give up on anything, even if it's failing(which usually isn't such a great thing)

I'd have been OK with this persons comments and criticism but there's something about that 'fucktard' at that end...So unnecessary, so pathetic...Almost jealous sounding. Oh well no skin off my nose, but hoe about you have the cohones to at least say it with some form of identification

Right, so at this point I'm beginning to think that the niche I've picked wasn't that good after all. I mean, I am ranking well, but this product just isn't selling. I'm either going to:

A: Leave it for another month or so and see what happens
B: Leave it for another month or so and then flipp it off or something.

Research has begun for my next niche and set of keywords. I don't know why but I find the research part the most fun and finding out that you're ranking well for a certain keyword is always a nice feeling.

Honestly, Africa, I'm not 100% sure myself. I think what it mainly came down to was my research. I made sure I picked keywords that are highly sort after yet low in content.

I also use a combination of allinoneseo, SEOPower and SEOPressor. Allinoneseo is the one that does all the actual SEO work, the other two are just for checking information and helping me improve my pages.

I used twitter for traffic aswell and I don't find it very targeted. For CB I would HIGHLY reccomend building a list for each niche via squeeze pages with a freebie incentive.
