My business website SEP

I have a new business and created a website for it. I don't have any fancy flash or anything, just a basic website. I tried my best with the seo, which google has Indexed. My problem is when i check keywords such as "house cleaning" my website has no rank. I've been using scape submitted for backlinks on profiles and directories, and when I check for backlinks it says I have none in Google. Whats wrong here?

Google is picky with the backlinks it displays. Use Yahoo Site Explorer for checking backlinks.

google doesn't show all links, even if they do find them and index. use yahoo site explorer as ^^^ said
