My Attempt at autoblogging

Well thought I would give it a go and record this journey here. I am a complete Newbie but I don't expect it to make much in the shorter term. So considering this, any help from the experienced would be great.

I intend to use the following:

1. Use 000webhost.com as the host provider using their FREE service.
2. Use Wordpress as the blogging platform. This will include the following plugins:
- Plugin : WP Robot
- Plugin : StatPress
- Plugin : Tweet-This
-Theme : swift
3. I will use adbrite rather then google for the moment while I am learning. I'll change it to adsense when I am happy I have mastered the process.
4. I will use hummingbird 2.0 to get twitter followers. I am using this for several reasons, but the most important being that they have an agreement with twitter and its fully automated.

So whats my general plan of attack ? The basic idea is to follow other methods here and gain traffic from twitter (yes I know everyone is doing it). I just want to see if it will work for me. I've set a date of 1st July as a deadline to see if this is working or not. Till then I'll try to update this thread every day (or every other day) with the progress.

Whats my specific goals each week? I intend to create 4 new autoblogs a week. There are approx 12 weeks between now and July 1st (but I'll be on holiday for 3 weeks where I will not have access to a computer). This leaves me with 9 weeks of building autoblogs. This equates to 36 autoblogs. I intend to increase my twitter following (aggregate) by 50 people a week. This means at the end of the 12 weeks I intend to have 600 followers. yes this might be low from what I have been reading but I want to be realistic. Also I'll only be running hummingbird for 2-3 hours a day so don't expect to build up the following too quickly.

So what have I already done? I took a few hours (4 hours) setting up my first blog yesterday. This included creating accounts and testing themes/plugins. I don't expect each autoblog to take 4 hours to setup. My first blog was just setup using youtube as the source. Its just a "Funny Videos" blog. I don't expect it to do very well but I thought it would be an easy blog to setup with lots of available content.

What am I hoping to achieve? Well obviously to make a little bit of money . If it can achieve even $3 a week I'll regard it as a success and attack it with more vigour I have set the bar low to start with and will change my goals as I progress. I see the steep learning curve being a barrier to making any profit for quite a while.

Just to remind everyone I am very new to this and to the tools so I will do lots of things wrong. Maybe there is a better tool out there and that is where I would like your assistance.

I would strongly recommend you do not use this shitty service. Pay the measly couple of bucks a month for shared hosting and buy a domain if you don't already have one. Trust me, it will be worth it!

I guarantee you won't get far at all autoblogging on free hosting services like 000webhost (blogger and certain wpmu sites are a different story though). The moment you use to many resources for their liking (WP Robot), they will kill your account.

Thanks for the heads up on that. For now I'll keep using them as this is only a trial and no use forking out dollars when there is no need to yet.

If I lose the blogs its no hassle.

I set up a second blog and it took me 1 hour. But I think I can get this down even further as I was interrupted several times.

I'm hoping those plugins were just the core ones you are gonna use...You need more than 3 or 4...

Also, I wouldn't add x amount of autoblogs per week. Make 4 or 8, see how they do after 2 or 3 months. If they do well, no reason not to put up as many more as you can. If you want to change something, well at least you only have 4 blogs instead of 12, 16, or 20...

No that was all I was going to use. Can you recommend a few others that I should be using at a minimum. I am trying to keep the setup time down to a minimum so I intended to keep the number of plugins low.

I guess this is a quantity vs quality issue. And you could be right. My idea of setting a goal each week was so that I had a target which I could achieve and would keep me doing things rather then just reading. My biggest problem is I can read it all but lack the conviction to do the necessary work. I think a lot of people have this same problem.

Thanks for the comments I really appreciate them as it challenges me to justify my own decisions to myself (and maybe change my plan of attackl).

Off to an ok start.

I think I need to change up my blog a little bit to get a better spread of text and videos. At the moment it is mostly videos.

Adding plugins doesn't really increase set up time...As long as you have them all in one folder that you just upload to each blog...

The main ones I would recommend would be OnlyWire, which is an auto bookmark submitter, Uniquefyer (sp?), which supposedly makes your content unique, at least in a meta sense so the article doesn't change but search engines read it differently (or so I've read...But it is free here at BHW so why not try it!), Easy Contact, so people can easily contact you about advertising or other things, and an auto pinger or something...If I think of more I will add them...

Also, I agree with what you said about not wanting to wait, but with the blogs I think you just have to a little bit. It sucks. Pick a different project to distract yourself with while the blogs grow. I have 8 nice templates for 8 nice niches ready to go, but I am trying to make myself wait until May 15 before I launch them...This way, I don't make the same mistakes twice...

Oh, how are you getting Twitter followers?

you'll get Twitters flowers much easier than you think, a nice way to build up some extremely targeted followers is twitterfall.com, use the search function to get the niche related people, then RT/@ them and they will definitely follow you, these are also the people that are more likely to RT something you say, it'll just escalate.

Thanks for the plugin suggestions. I'll look into them.

Waiting is my biggest issue. I always wait and never take action. This is sort of forcing me to be active. Also I have learnt lots doing the first 3 blogs and will put these learnings into the next blogs I do.

I am using hummingbird. I run it for about 1-2 hours a day. I just enter the search term I want followers for and it automatically follows/unfollows.

Great suggestion. I'll give that a go for a few of my blogs and see what happens.

8th April

Well I know I don't know as much as everyone else here who have been doing autoblogs so all the assistance has been great. I find I am learning more and more as I create each blog. My stats are still very poor compared to others who are saying they are getting over 100 UV's a day per blog after only 1-2 days. Maybe its my keywords, content or both. Maybe its because they are including spider visits in their stats. I don't know but I do know I'll keep trying to improve.

Also I know my stats for the first day were slightly inflated due to it counting my ip as hits. Anyway here are todays stats.

AutoBlogs : 3
Unique Visitors : 28
Page Views : 105
Followers : 136

I have had over 200 spider visits during the 24 hours as well.

Also I wonder how many of the followers are real people vs bots. My guess its about 10% -20%.

Not too much...I have one blog that I have not promoted at all, other than setup SEO...Yesterday it had 10 visitors, 53 page views, 157 spiders and 24 RSS feeds...so that's nothing special...And that's after 3 weeks...

was wondering where does it state that hummingbird has an agreement with tw*tter? are they saying that they can't get an account banned? that a very doubtful especially considering their videos with claims of a 1000 followers every few hours and such

also does hummingbird have way to not follow obvious affiliates, tw*tter users with links for example?

My stats are much the same as yours, but they (slowly) get better. That is why quantity is so important. 300 blogs at $1 a day isn't so bad.

I read it here ...

hummingbird seems very automated. you put in your twitter accounts and it just runs. I don't see it getting 1000's per hour.

Good to see. Its nice to know others are getting the same as me. Especially when you read all the people saying they are getting 100's or 1000's per day after 3 days.

hearing what others are getting is great. Thats not bad for just setting up the SEO and letting it run. What SEO are you using ?
