After reading 7878, originalposter and 1337wulfs post i decided to take action. Put together quick mailer of 15 letters. Will let you all know how it goes. Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions! im excited and really confident this will work out well.

Next step: hire a virtual assistant to find bad google reviews and screenshot and put in google docs for me.

I plan on doing sets of 25 letters every friday and monday and see what kinda traction i get.

quick questions is there a google/tripadvisor/yelp! scraper, thats the most tedious part

Why would I choose you as my ORM solution? What is your irresistible offer, the one that will make me buy ORM only from you (Its not price point, its not about what I need)? Brand yourself as the solution to ORM problems. Sympathize, let sincerity flow from you as you solve these people's problems. Focus on your one major irresistible offer that makes me instantly want to buy from you (regardless of window shopping). Its not about $97 from $497 or some new method that increases positive feedback. Its about you targeting my wants and desires from buying your ORM. Your sales copy and service is focused on sincerly providing me not only the best ORM offered, but it is focsued on appeasing me emotionally. Have me on a monthly plan, one that will not only tickle my emotional benefits of having ORM, but rather one that will also increase the perception of my business over time.

Why do you buy your favorite food? The great memories and emotions you had while eating the food, or that are associated to the food. You become addicted to these because combined with great taste, you had positive emotions to help "root" this as your favorite food. This applies to sexual preferences and to video games and money. When you begin to see the "stuff behind the curtains" you start to understand that if you can master pushing the right emotions to cause people to buy, you are set for life.

Update: So last saturday 07/11 placed 10 letters in mailbox. Because it was after pick up time letters werent picked up until Monday 07/13. So that means ( estimate) that each business owner received there letters wednesday or thursday.

Good news though, recieved one call back! Talked to business owner about his business and about his reviews. He said he hated reviews, that they were unfair and that people just wanted "free food". Asked him does he have current ORM strategy in place. He said nope, he doesnt have the time! This is where i told him thats what i am here for. Secured a meeting with him next week! So i am going to set up a demo page and show it to him. Bonus: He also said he didnt have any smm strategy either and didnt have the time ( possible upsell)

Also just sent out another 10, so expect for them to get their letters tuesday.

What do you guys think i should bring to the meeting. I was thinking about showing the reviews of close by competitors and the dashboard and contract.

    Any suggestions on closing him?!?!

You'll need to address his basics before you even start ORM with him. He needs to fix his attitude first, then the problems he has with running his business. So far I can assume he has problems with identifying his food and service with being sub par dog shit. This kind of client can go bad for you really fast, so always make sure he signs a contract before you start.

This client will expect the moon for less than a penny. You need to be cut throat clear about how you are going to help him go from scum lord to 3 star eat in pub (I don't see 5 star here). To be very fair, you'll need a list of his direct competition in the area, along with the top 10 places people love to eat. You will need to break down food pricing, promotions, etc in front of his face. Then go into the reviews and statistics about how not everyone does leave a review unless its a really good experience or a really bad experience. Then come in with "people check online right before they go out to eat." If he has the current mentality that I think he has (as long as you weren't exaggerating with your post) then he is going to be difficult grade client.

I'd charge him 1.5x the going rate for the clean up process, and set it over a 6 month subscription plan. For example if it takes you $600 monthly to help him clean up his mess, I'd go for nothing less than $1,500 monthly (paid out on the 1st week of the month unless he wants to be charged a late fee of $25 daily). With that kind of budget you can afford proxies, small adwords campaigns, social media services, and enough to keep for yourself. Now if the COSTS for servicing him go up, you'll need to take a word with him (like him hounding you day and night, and you are being demanded to deliver a $10,000 service for $5).

Also you are going to need references (fake it by searching sites etc). I highly doubt he is going to call these places and ask about you, even so you want to use psychology to hook the sale.

I don't accept any donations from here because its a bannable offense. Also, I think with my advice you can close the deal with a good nights sleep thinking on what I said. Don't DO everything I said at once, it'll make you jittery and unprofessional. Slowly work it into him.

Update: So after the guy postponed two days, we met yesterday. He liked it very much and seems quite interested in setting it up. Heres the catch, he has 6 locations :), but also has partners and will run it by them tomorrow. He said he is willing to give it a try just doesn't know which location will be the "pilot location" and also he has to make sure that his partners will be interested in that 400/month expense. He did however tell me to revise the proposal and include SMM and my fee:).

Headed to the store to grab some more stamps so i can send another 10 out monday. Next week i will follow up on my first mailing with a call.

hey avid. his partner said it was too expensive. However i did set up his google place location for his new restaurant and now he wants me to design his website. I do think this method is an awesome method to get the foot in the door with business owners. Some still dont see the value of orm ( many owners have negative views or relationships with yelp, because of yelps sales team), however i will keep going... More will come from it

It's definitely better than absolutely no business at all - just look at it as a sale.

Who knows, just keep pounding that rock; make it a point (in regards to how important ORM can be).

That was good you got a webdesign etc out of it....after that is done maybe see if he wants to try the orm with that one location

Sometimes people surprise you too - just had a guy who said no a couple months ago call me up today for social media set up and design, he is still thinking bout the "reviews" (his are like none and a few bad LOL)
