My 1000th post and some lessons I've learned

It is quite hard to build a "long term" business online as things can change so quickly, but by diversifying and investing in WH properties (especially those with a long history of traffic/rankings) you can be slightly more sure of your returns. Compared to investing offline, you can earn a far better ROI investing in websites, especially medium term (up to 2 years).

IMO the best thing to invest in long term is real estate/property as you can rent them out for years to come.

I am really not posting much as I am more the reading and learning guy - and most upcoming questions are already answered here.
Just do the "Search" my fellow Noobs!

I am not the "Increase my count"-Addict...
...so from my view I always like your postings when I do stumble upon them.
(No I won`t check them all now to see if it is true...)
Whenever I read some of you it always has a good thought and some value...and that is (through others like that also, of course) what makes this place just great.

So for your 1000th you did a really, really good one...
...some very nice basic points to read for people getting started.
Attitude is important...

#5 - Doubters - I've seen so many threads on the forum where peoples "friends" and family tell them they are a loser or wasting their time for trying to make money online. I truly don't understand it at all and feel very fortunate for having people that are supportive. Even if they weren't though, you still have to make your own way and your own decisions. I just wanted to say to anyone in that situation that it is worth it and to stick with it!

Agreed. People become more supportive as you become more successful, it's mainly an issue when starting out. I guess it depends on your personal situation as well. And absolutely, stick with it and you'll be rewarded in the long run.
 
@meathead1234 Thanks for your inspiring post...and congrats for the 1000th post... I love the fifth point and it is so true...The main thing is even when I make money these so called relatives don't respect you and thought I feel down at times when they ask you "why dont you get a real job?" I just want to prove them that THIS IS A REAL JOB...I AM AN ENTREPRENEUR.. and most of all I like what I do...I dont know how much of the day time job people enjoy their work in real life... But I do enjoy!! I am graduating this May 2011 and I would like to establish myself as a decent IM specialist by then (I am working hard to do that and posts like these motivates me a lot thanks once again mate) Is it possible to talk to you via IM...dont worry I am not going to ask you anything :) I just want to build good relationship with people like you.. :)
 
I really don`t post to much on the board like you can see , but

5) Ignore the haters and doubters. Your friends and family WILL doubt you. They will say what you are doing is stupid, scamming, pointless, risky, short-term so you just have to get on with it. The best way to prove them wrong is to make money sitting at home in your underwear while they are slaving away at their crappy day jobs that they all hate. Just remember that most people don?t understand what we do, so don?t worry if they don?t get it.

Don't feel like you have to prove yourself to people, as it's natural that they won't understand what you do to earn money. Just let your action and lifestyle do the talking. People will be jealous when they see you work from home and make more than most of them, so just take the doubts in your stride and scale up your earnings :)

It's not just success. I think it's more the lifestyle people are jealous of. Some people in "real" jobs might make more than us but there's no way you can beat working from home all day and being flexible to do whatever you want, when you want.

Maybe I don't believe in the proper definition "karma" but I do believe what goes around, comes around.

If you're a scammer and go round ripping people off, one day it's going to come bit you in the ass. And likewise, if you're helpful, people are far more likely to be helpful with you too.
 
Sorry for the bump, but would just like to thank everyone for all the PMs I recieved from this thread. Had a great response so I'll dig out a few more gems from my BH closet :)

I'm pretty busy this week with various projects but promise I'll get round to replying to everyone by the end of the week! As much as I'd like to JV with everyone who asked, I really do have a lot on already so please don't be offended if I say no (this time). Thanks!
