Must watch for Every TRUE Indian

13. Algebra, trigonometry and calculus came from India. Quadratic equations were by Sridharacharya in the 11th century. The largest numbers the Greeks and the Romans used were 106 whereas Hindus used numbers as big as 10**53(10 to the power of 53) with specific names as early as 5000 BCE during the Vedic period. Even today, the largest used number is Tera 10**12(10 to the power of 12).

India wasn't the origin of Algebra!! Don't take credit for yourself... Read thissss........

In about the year 830, Mohammad ibn-Musa al-Khwarizmi of Baghdad wrote a book with the Arabic title Hisab al-jabr w'al-muqabala, which may be translated as Science of the Reunion and the Opposition. The reunion, or al-jabar, became our algebra, which deals not so much with numbers themselves (that's arithmetic) but with relations among numbers, relations such as equation. Al-Khwarizmi was the man who synthesized their knowledge for the Arabic, and in due course the European, world.

I'm not Indian but enjoy a bit of history interesting read don't see how this thread does any harm its in the lounge after all

And the point of this post is....?

I say make a list of the remarkable things the human race has accomplished despite all the odds and people might be more receptive.

- That women are now entitled to vote
- That Christians are allowed to worship in a Muslim country like the UAE
- That Man has been to the moon and back; etc etc etc

Statistics and numbers don't say much if they don't make this world a better place.

You know, when I was doing time in the big house, everybody I met was a fucking moron so I stayed to myself. One day the gaurd came and told me I had a new cell mate coming in. I thought "Oh fuck" another moron to listen to. All these guys talked about was what they had going on outside the walls, and what beef they had with "so and so" inside the walls, and how they were working on a new apeal, or how it was someone elses fault they were there.

Next day I got my cell mate, he was an Indian, a Hindu named Ravi, and the smartest nicest guy I ever met. Here was a gem among all these morons and he was my cell mate, and the only innocent man I ever met in jail. That's another story, but he was innocent.

That guy kept me sane, he kept me out of trouble, we had a lot of real deep talks, and I can tell you there isn't much deep thinking in the big house. I love that guy. he was super rich, super smart, and super nice, and made my time a whole lot easier I can tell you.

I have never been racist, but I can tell you if I was I wouldn't be against Indians. So go ahead and post your stuff about India. It's probably all true. And anyone that doesn't like it can go fuck themselves.

Grow out of this !! IM is about the world being our playground. Russian bots, Indian Man power, US IP's, Spanish Translators, German Geek and More in My Contact List..

Boundaries are man made, Now we have an opportunity Like never before to communicate to any person anywhere in the world in way that we as a species never experienced. Internet is a revolution ..if you ahev the time see the documentary called US Now

But Thumbs Up :tee: atleast you are passionate about something !!

@RamChaturvedi Chill man, This is the lounge after all

So what? It's still a third world country the infrastructure is really bad and people still shit on the roads. Our country has a long way to go.

Well what i have been observing from the last 2-3 months that the more and more Out of way topics are increasing here.I know its Lounge and you are free to post anything you like and we are no one to stop you even but internally what I think is that it would be great if people could post things which are some how related to marketing or monetizing things.

I mean we should post things which we cant be posted in any of the relevant categories here.Like you got a BAN from adsense then its no use to post in ADSENSE category and thus you shd post it here or lets say you just made 300$ today and very exicted to tell people, then use this lounge. :)

I am also an Indian and i am proud of it.But making this sort of thread here in this forum makes no sense to me atleast. If its only an INDIAN forum and only indian traffic is coming then everyone would have like it and you would have got some nice comments too.But the situation is a bit ironial and here the people belongs to different countries with different specializations in their feild!!!

No controversies as its only my personal view!!
:)

I agree with Ram.....this thread doesn't really belong here. Sure, it's historical, but I don't believe in making a political statement here on BHW.

Those who don't like the post - pl....MOVE...on

India is a land of extremes....a land of karma.

What that guy wrote maybe true..but the reverse is also true unfortnately.

Agreed, this is a lounge, let people let their hair down the way they want. EVERY topic talked about here could be discussed elsewhere on a site dedicated to that issue. If that's the standard for exclusion, nothing would be discussed in the lounge. So if you don't like the topic, just move on, simple as that.

well i dont know if that is all true but one thing is for sure:
i love bollywood movies and Salman Khan is my favorite actor in the world!!
even the fact that i am not an indian but from Israel loooool

LOL Most Indian posters are bashing this thread and Non-Indians are happy to read this.

My first post :) after long time

i dont think this is the kind of forum you wanna post this on, you can post such thing for every country...

agreed, but was cool reading it.

Nice to know of some of the achievements not taught in schools.

I think you guys are coming down too hard on the op. I do not think that he meant any harm by posting the thread.

I did not know any of these facts before he posted them. I was enlightened by the thread. I have noticed that alot of ignorant people in the IM world speak negatively about those with Indian heritage.

With that being said, I also think that this thread should be closed. Mainly because of the political debates that are brewing. And some bad blood can be started amongst members.

I do not see anything good coming from the direction this thread is taking.

Cuz indians have a very weired sense of vision. Had this post been written by a white (sorry I am not a racist) the responses have been different. (Also, may be about their country). (Or even by non-white about their country for that matter)

Whatever, good or bad about this thread, I still support it. No one is 100% perfect and still everybody must take pride in things which he/she has. And that is what I take the point of this thread to be.

If someone posts about their country I am and will be more than happy to congratulate them on their achievements and leave the fact-finding to those who are more specialized to do that. Nobody is writing a text book here that everyone has to follow.

I enjoyed the movie "Cool Runnings". It was about the jamaicans making the entry in to the winter olympics in the "Bobsled" category. I love the movie for the spirit of it and like this thread for the spirit of it.

Only those people who don't take pride in their country would criticize a thread like this. It's the lounge. If people don't discuss what they really want to then where is the sense of community which many people like to feel in a place like a forum.

This is the sense of community that makes web2.0 properties like, blogs, forums, social networks etc. that makes them so popular.

Please don't over-react. Talking of planet, India happens to be on it and if somebody wants to feel good about it. I don't see any problem in why one shouldn't.

Shame on other Indians who are criticizing this thread. You are just a bunch of over-zealous corporates who wouldn't see beyond their $$. I just don't understand this slave mentality. Where in effect taking pride in ones own country or traditions or whatever is unique to you due to your birthplace only increases respect in the eyes of others.

LOL Most Indian posters are bashing this thread and Non-Indians are happy to read this.
