Must Know Literature for Beginniners?

Can anyone point some MUST KNOW literature my way for someone beginning in SEO? Regarding tools and what not? I particularly want to experiment with OFFLINE MONEY MAKING and apply skills and tools to my state. One that really caught my eye was #1 Method on (cant post link yet) Methods that Work, the google page rank offline method. Is this method still possible, and if so, is there any starting points someone could send a green horn?

Not asking for a "spoonfeeding" or whatever, I am just hoping someone can point me to a starting point.

As far from what I learned, no course or ebook can explain SEO and how it works. You just need to follow forums like BHW and other SEO related to get the idea

Your looking to make money offline. There is is a offline marketing section that can help you.
And for books > Must-Read Books

Learning seo is like learning how to ride a bike. You can read all the instructions and guides that are out there and when the time comes to hop on the bike you will fail.
You can take all the principles but you will not truly understand it until you try and do SEO, learn from your failures and successes.

So don't ask people to describe how they are riding their own bikes, learn the basics and hop on the bike and let your experience be the ultimate knowledge.
