Excel if (forever) alone. Google docs or Office 365 if you are working with people.

First must have. A website with your services :)
For invoicing I use WHMCS. Little hard to get set up but more features than you will know to do with and also the most affordable.
For project management there is ONLY ONE program to use, Team Work PM. I have tried about 4 other programs including basecamp and TWPM as by by far the best project program out there.

If you are looking to out source any of your services including very affordable website design, google local optimization, SEO, or Online rep management let me know. I have reseller prices that can help you focus on sales and not finding quality workers.

If you want to increase results and avoid headaches, I'll say a lead tracking software to keep track of contacts, follow ups, appoinments, etc.

Yeah, I know excel is not a "sexy" or flashy software, but it'll keep things organized. The least thing you want is to keep calling/email the same people that already said NO!

CaptinAmerica, can you PM me for your outsourcing rates? I run an offline biz, and am too busy to take on any more clients on my own... Cheers.

i like places scout but the other day i was thinking i need something better for SEO rankings across the big three, yahoo/bing/google.

traffic travis is nice, but the reports it generates are crappy looking

    I really like the following:

    - Google Docs for sharing project info with my assistants.
    - Bright Local for reports
    - Smartsheet for task management

Google Spreadsheets should be okay for tasks, too, but I really like smartsheet. It's a nice, easy program to use.
