[Must Have!] Ping list for wordpress blogs!

I know this is a crazy question, but how do I ping? What product to use? How do I do it? What does it do?

I've been following the post and quite frankly I would love to know how this works. Thanks in advance to anyone who can take 67 secs out their browsing to explain.

I agree with some of the earlier posts ...that less is better than a huge ping list. I personally only ping 5 sites and have been getting very good results.
