Multiple websites!

Hi everyone, I need some advice from you SEO masters!

I have a small business where we offer, among many other things, web design. Most of my clients are small local business, and dont have a clue about how to register a domain, or how to upload to a server. So to some of them i offer them that i buy them the domain and i host the site.

I have bought a reseller package to manage different sites. But now, upon reading in the forums im finding out that maybe its bad for SEO purposes to have all of the domains registered by me and in the same server!?

Is this true? If so, what would you advise? having a maximum of domains in the same server?

Also in the footer of the websites i have my own anchor text and keyword as a footprint (thinking it was good for my own SEO) ej: "designed by: me"

Can my site get penalized because of this?

Your site wont get penalized for having in the signature, your link. Because that is designer credit, google wont penalize for that.

But if you keep nofollow for that, it is much better. Because, even nofollow link have value than ********.

Google can't penalize websites just because they share the same server, and it doesn't matter who registers the domains. If Google gave out penalties just for hosting multiple sites, then a lot of people would be in trouble.

The only thing that you really want to be careful about is interlinking between the sites themselves. Google will catch on to that if you try to build up a link network with sites on the same server and that is what could cause some penalties.

You don't have to worry about the footer links coming from your clients' sites, but if concerns you that much, just ask for extra IPs so that you can rotate between them.

Perfect, so when you say to ask for extra IPs do I ask them to my ISP or to my server provider? Thanks a lot!

You buy IPs from your host. You need a dedicated IP if you plan on installing SSL to process financial transactions. If you just have blogs or affiliate sites, dedicated IPs are not necessary, but also not a horrible idea to have.

Be very careful with footer links now adays. Lots of changes going on and it's pretty ambiguous right now as to whether or not they can hurt you.

I personally don't prefer to link back to my website, I just put my website name, eg.
"Designed by Corrupt.com"

No they won't be penalized. Get whois privacy.

1. For domains - register at NameCheap_com
2. For hosting - get some re-seller account from HostGator_com or such and they will provide you with copy of whmcs_com and you're set start your hosting business that you can offer your clients along with the design...
