Hey everyone,
Wanted to talk about a problem I'm having. I don't want to name the company, but a newly formed competitor (2018) is using seriously underhand tactics to take me and many other established companies in our field on. I noticed this toward the end of 2018 and laughed at first thinking Google would act, but it seems they haven't.
Here is what the company is doing. They've registered maybe 15 domains, all very similar and very little differentiation. Let's say they're a logo design company (they aren't).
So they've registered something like the following:
Logocreationservices.com
Logo.agency
Logoredesigns.net
99dollarlogos.com
Logosuk.co.uk
etc etc etc
My last count, they have maybe 15 websites, all offering the same or similar services. Each domain is targeted at a very specific keyword, which they are now ranking towards the top of. They use the same graphics/live chats, simply change the color scheme and focus on a slightly different service within a very small niche. For one major keyword, they now have two top five SERPs and two adword websites, so essentially four "different" websites in the top 8 results inc ads. its driving me insane as my website sits 1/2 for most ads and on normal results, but this tactic is costing us $$. I wouldn't mind if they made it clear this is the same company and each website was a standalone service, but that isn't the case. Every website is made out to be a separate company, conning the consumer.
So, is this allowed? Secondly, without creating a load of websites for myself, is there a way of blacklisting these guys on Google?
Also, I'm sure someone will say they're just using good SEO, get over it. They're also lying about how long they've been in business, the country of origin, their turnover, number of staff, using fake office addresses, claiming media coverage that doesn't exist (e.g. NY Times), the list goes on. These guys really are conmen and need some help on this.
