multiple seller accts + proxies?

Would it be foolish of me to sell items through multiple accounts using private proxies? Or would that be detected by ebay somehow?

Be absolutely sure you've cleared everything out of your browser before switching back and forth. I don't know about ebay, but many sites these days are starting to use flash cookies as another way to keep track of you. Get a good anonymizing plugin for your browser and you should be fine.
